Door checker issue? (1 Viewer)

Hi Mud,

It’s been awhile since I posted here as I haven’t been wheeling lately do to a new baby and job.

Well last week my wife called me out to tell me there was something wrong with the rear passenger door.

Went out and took a look and Houston we have a problem!!!

It looks like the black bar. That after some googling I believe is called the door checker literally ripped the sheet metal.

My question for the mud brain trust is…

1. Could this be welded back together or fixed somehow?
2. What could happen if I just took off the bar and left it?
3. Anybody happen or have an extra rear door they want to sell?

I'm curious about this as well.

I just picked up a new to me 1999 100 and both of the rear doors have this issue.

How the hell does this happen?

There's a thread on here addressing this. You need new door checks and a welded plate to support the new mechanism. Will find the thread...
