Ditching the 4 inch skyjackers and shackle reversal po did (the po is my dad who's had his fair share of building mid life crisis "bro-dozer" lifted 40 to 80 series. Definitely not my cup of tea).

Still thankful to have nos oem leafsprings that was bought my grandfather some 28 odd years ago.

This embarks my "unpo-ing" the 1974 FJ40LV. Goal is to return it to as close as a stock standard FJ40 when it rolled of the dealership when my grandfather (1st owner) bought it in November of 1974.

Well, at long last, I decided the time had come to unclog our plugged up engine block drain. Removed the 14mm brass drain cock and had zero flow. Removed the 19mm drain cock housing and likewise had zero flow. Then went at the stubborn plug with an assortment of tools and finally achieved success. At first just a dribble but eventually got a good flow. I had ordered an OEM drain cock but have one of Toyota Matt's with the hose attachment incoming.

Also, preparing for first my first valve adjustment. Put a bit of shine on an aluminum valve cover; tested remote starter for bumping. Waiting on inbound OEM valve cover gasket.

Put more @SLOCRUISER rubber on the truck. Bought a Sniper kit from Mosley. Dropped the tank and inspected the carb and fuel system for fun.

PO said the truck wouldn't idle and he couldn't figure out why. I found out why. The carb was absolutely gross. Almost everything was clogged or caked. Got it clean (for fun) and pulled the tank. The tank is rusty-ish. Gonna try to de-rust it (any tips tricks would be appreciated). The line coming out of the tank to the pump was completely clogged with rust powder and gunk. The hardline from pump to carb dumped sand out of it when I pulled it.

Edit: windshield guy showed up last minute. The dude did an incredible job. I stand corrected. I'd recommend him to anyone in Central Florida that needs a glass guy. Super cool dude. Extremely professional and knowledgable.

Installed a new windshield washer fluid reservoir (Thanks @ToyotaMatt). My rigs reservoir has been MIA since I bought it in 2002.
Connected everything up and...nothing happened.
Connected a different 12v source to the new Denso pump on the reservoir and it worked fine.
I removed the wipe/wash switch from the dash and it was very dirty. Hit it with a bronze bristle brush and used a small file to clean up the washer contacts circled in red below.

I use a product call D100 from Deoxit for cleaning vintage stereo equipment contacts. It woks wonders and removes years of varnish and corrosion. Does not harm old fiber based circuit boards. Can spray into switches and clean contacts that otherwise you cant get too.

Too excited not to share. Stainless reproduction 72-79 fuel filter brackets going to be available soon, almost every 40 that comes through our shop is missing one. :D

They know they have the right-away. I bet by early October (turkey season) they'll be MIA. :hmm:

A great 130 mile drive! The upgraded seats also added to the positive experience.
