I settled in today for a long week of wiring.

Taking it in three stages.

1) Mate the early Coolerman harness to my setup.

2) Sniper

3) Dakota

Before I got started I installed this beautifully restored wheel and button via @Birdhead

Spal elec fan harness shortened/installed ✔️

@Fourrunner Cables installed ✔️

Starter wired ✔️

Ignition wired to new OEM switch using @ToyotaMatt pigtail ✔️

Foot dimmer switch ✔️

New OEM brake switch ✔️

Blower attached to Coolerman harness ✔️

Switched 12 works, Fuse Box works, starter works

Long but productive day with no distractions. I wish this harness had been plug and play but at this point the most important things to move forward are working. Once I do the Sniper wiring I’ll likely get the fuel tank plumbed so I can see if this engine runs

I decided to be a plumber today instead of an electrician

I used some bulkhead fittings for the fuel lines this time. Turned out pretty clean

Simple WIX post filter and the hoses all travel down inside the frame.

And as always, I added an in- line fuel pressure gauge for and troubleshooting down the line

These little taps are perfect for something non structural attached to something thick like the frame.

I got some old school Toyota lap belts from this thing and they were a bit too nasty for me to just have re-webbed by safety restore so I had Powder Keg dissect them and clean them up properly before I sent them off for new black belts. This company will take the Toyota labels and put them on the new belts

Got the tag today. May need to stamp another digit in it

Lots of grommets going in and screws to fill in all these firewall holes. I have a passenger side cowl vent tube but not a drivers side. If anyone is sitting on one please contact me. City Racer is out

My very original 71 has the same on both sides with bolts in them?( look original undisturbed)
Yep. That’s what I remembered. Big bolts.

Wonder what they were for….

Looks fabulous! I like the aftermarket cat installed on the passenger floor. It's a guaranteed OK on a purr-missions inspection.

Not sure at all. No idea really
Anything seat belt related should be 7/16-20. I think this is where the jump seat belt mounts, I am going to install seatbelts in the next few weeks so need to figure out exactly where mine go. Any of the auto parts stores will have this size as does seat belt planet. There is one standard bolt in the later roll bars as well. My understanding is that it was a US regulation…..

Back to wiring. Other than the fuel pump the Sniper is wired as is the 1 wire FJ60 internal regulator alternator.

The DUI and the alternator share the same switched 12v (black/yellow) wire designed for the coil.

It’s a lot of wires to be properly loomed at tucked.

Dakota and Sniper wiring.

How do you eat an elephant?

One bite at a time.

Fuel Pump wired, loomed and grounded

The Dakota needs a stand-alone power and ground from the sender. I’ve never had luck just running it through the harness and pulling the wires at the cluster.

Since I’m using the Sniper interface, the Dakota will pull temperature through the Sniper sensor. That keeps from having to have two sensors in the block and head. Because of that I had a nice 2 wire Dakota loomed wire set not used. I made it into the fuel sensor cable by snipping off the plug

Dakota/Sniper interface. It also keeps from having to run a separate Tach wire to the interface box. I was able to mount it in the normal 72 fuse box location

Control switch down where the useless map light mounts

This always looks like a hot mess until you can hide it away behind the cluster

Had forgotten to order a tag light. @cruiseroutfit had it to me today.

Added more wires. Switched 12 for the electric fan and the 12v cig lighter. Also added the Live Wires

Went to install the blower tube and even though it looked clean off the truck it did not look right in the truck. So I pulled it and hit it with some plastic paint
