The final touch: HEST Dually Long. It fits perfectly and the comfort of these HEST mattresses is unreal… When its not in use, fold it in half and it stows in the Packasport up top. Dry and out of the dust.

Thanks! I don’t have any documentation other than the photos and this build thread. I made it up as I went. All pretty simple tho. Just pull out a tape measure and get to sketchin. Happy building!

I finally found the perfect drawer pulls. Miles black anodized aluminum from McMaster Carr! Cheap cost but high quality feel.

I built a swingout fold down table im finally happy with! Everything on the market was too thick for the clearance I have available, so i built my own using 3mm Aluminum, hood latches, and steel cable. Super simple. He welding required.

That is a really nice set up. Impressive build skills.

Do you have to move your front seats forward to fit the "Hest Dually Long"? The Hest website says that the dually long is 50"x78" --- and that seems longer than I have space in my 80. And my power seats don't move very well anymore so I am not sure I would want to have to move them each time I set up. Hest also sells a "Dually Wide" that is listed as being 60"x72", but that may be a little too wide for the inside of an 80. What do you think?

Thanks

Thanks a lot! It was a learning process haha.

We do need to fold the front seats forward to buy us a little room length wise. We don’t more them on the rails at all. I was going to go with the Dually wide, but after testing a friends, I prefer to have some room on each side of the mattress for our bags. Plus I’m tall, to the long ones fits me better.

So you test fit a dually wide in the 80 and it did fit? That is good to know. 60 inches seems like the max width you could it in, but it would tight. Something more like 56x74 or 54x74 seems like it would be ideal if you don't want to have to move your seats forward every time you set it up and you don't want it to be super tight.

Dually wide didn’t really fit… it folded up a little bit on each side, which I guess could be cozy haha. For me, I would need to fold my seats forward mo matter what just because I’m a taller guy.

I haven’t been happy with the grip of the Herculiner bedliner on the platform, I’m testing some carpet! I didn’t glue it, but I did staple it down, so it is fully reversible. The carpet is just outdoor carpet from the hardware store. Very cheap. I love the look! Matched the tailgate really nicely now.
