I have read through here about precups dropping, some say flush others say protrude.

So the manual says that pre cups should have between 0-0.1mm protrusion. So according to the manual, flush is ok.

I am getting the head back from the machine shop today, a ford racing v8 specialist, he is not keen on pre cup protrusion, so decked the head with pre cups installed, so flush, zero protrusion. He doesn't do mls gasket finish and diesel is not his speciality.

I tapped the precups in with a rubber mallet nice and snug after a really good squeeky clean with brass wire wheel.

I have the standard toyota 2h head gasket (the only size available) but was going to use arp head bolts as I have seen some toyota head bolts break.

Is there anyway to make sure the precups don't fall?
Should I get another set of precups, remove the flush ones and somehow shave the new ones down to 0.1mm protrusion?

Retorquing head bolts after a heat cycles seems like a really good idea, even several times.
Should I use copper spray seal on the head gasket?
