So camped at another favorite place, at the head of the resurrection pass trail, along the resurrection creek.

On the way home Whittier cleared up nicely so we swung past there quick, always great views here.

Either the sound proofing I did of the cab worked better than I thought or the AT III are louder than the AT II.

When I picked up the Ute it didn’t have a skid plate under the transfer case. I still had the one from the BJ70 I parted out. Wondered if it would fit, it does

Engine is finally done. Got a set of exhaust manifold heat shields from a member. They had some cracks around bolt holes, so I lightly sand blasted them and carefully mig welded the cracks. Will see how the welds hold up.

Then painted these with POR15 high temp paint. After painting and drying put in oven for 15min above 300F. And got them installed.

Don’t know where this one piece goes, I’m assuming it goes farther down after the turbo, but don’t see any way with my turbo and down pipe.

Please report later on high temp coating longevity. I used some rattle can stuff from Advance Auto. Failed quickly even though it was baked as directed. Maybe Betty Crocker has a better product

Well, I did a boo-boo
I backed into the mailbox that is mounted on a steel pole.
Bent the tailgate and broke out the back window of the cap. And I wanted to go camping the last two weeks of August

This shows how much it’s pushed back on the other side.

Now I have to hunt for a new/used back window assembly. And get the damaged side to open up again.

Remembered that I still have the tail gate from the old bed. Might need to have it painted so it matches. I think I might have to do some hinge work on it too.

Bummer, but you have a hell of a mail box post, and it looks like nothing happened to it. Kids playing mailbox baseball be warned!

That’s a good idea. Will still have to straighten out that corner so plexiglass will fit
