Sleeved! This is the way!
Did you drill out and plug weld too? 🤷‍♂️
No button. Gonna be on an island with zero traffic and moderate speeds. Gonna work on front bar/window frame tomorrow. The rear bar will be pinned so it can be removed to get the body off.

You're doing it right. You wouldn't believe how many "rollbars" I see on buggies that are just bolted to the fiberglass...

Drill holes and put in some bolts tomorrow and deliver Tue. Then I’m done for awhile. Then start putting up my 20’x20’ carport for the Troopy.

By the way, the bosses are down in Mexico running NORRA in their Berrien chassis, Manx bodied, EcoTec powered, VW bus transaxle buggy...

Just made one too. All recycled scraps from the furniture guy, or pallet wood.

Installed in the bathroom of the guest house (I did a full remodel last winter)

Fabbed up a quick spigot guard to prevent breakage.
All the material used was from the scrap pile.

The spigot protrudes about 7” and sits between the wall and the computer cabinet for the plasma table. I store gas cylinders in that corner of the shop so a bump could result in a unwanted interruption.
A short piece of 1”X12 ga. round tubing was bent 180°. Two tabs cut, chamfered, drilled and countersunk.

Premounted prior to prime and paint.

With the holes already drilled, the guard will install quickly after paint is dry.

I have a friend (the one who rescued me from the PCT two months ago) that has a similar problem with a vulnerable water line. I’m going to forward this great solution to her! Thanks!

Refurbing my drill press.

A lot done, but a lot of detail work still to do before it’s done.

Fun little project, likely to be repeated for other subframes and car types.

Please share what lifting table you have. I have MaxJax, but it’s only rated to 6k and my Troopy is 6.5k and my Tundra is higher. I need to find an alternative to lifting my rigs at least 4’ up so they can be put on stands for easier work.

This is a table used to take engines, subframes and or battery packs out from under a car on a lift. It is too high to fit under the axles of a car on the ground.
It also costs a lot more than a lift, it’s not mine btw. Takes to much space to fit in my shop.

It is basically a pallet truck with a platform In stead of forks. On the platform there is a scissor lift that goes up to 2m.
on top of the lift part there is a fixed platform with a 2 piece top plate. The top plat can tilt slightly over 2 axis and it can move sideways, the fron and back can move about 50cm from each other.
You van take a complete engine and transmission out of a car and separate them on the table keeping them straight and aligned.

I will take a few more pictures next time.
