Polished a manifold then ate some Polish sausage.
Cheers

I haven't posted in a while, cause the only thing I was doing to my LandCruiser was daily driving it. We haven't had any rain so I've had lots of opportunities to take it out... and look really cool while I'm burning up in 100+ heat :). But I took off Friday creating a 3 day weekend situation, and got a few piddly things done. Here's a picture of newly refreshed knobs and labels, I got them all in the same shot with the paint pens I used, the ultra fine Sharpie ones from Hobby Lobby. Oh the cigarette lighter is new, OEM Toyota, I didn't have to mess with that one.

Next up I decided to tackle some new greasable shackle pins and bushings for the rear. I did that job on the front 10 years ago when I was undoing a botched shackle reversal, but never got around to doing the rear until now. I got the shackles done this weekend, but not the spring hangers, I ran into some difficulty getting the spring to realign with the shackle on assembly... nothing a come-along couldn't fix though. :D

Have a great week everyone!

Doing a full frame off restomod build. Fabbed some parts this week. I made some new tabs for the driver door limiting stops. And, since I did a Saginaw steering mod, I don't need that gaping hole in the driver fender. So, I made a patch.

Brighter headlights.
In all honesty I don't know. I do know the FSM has a section on adjusting the voltage regulator. I'll have to take a look but my old alternator wasn't putting out a full 50 amps and my Ammeter hasn't worked since I got it.
The Colombian 40's had 55 amp alternators and 50 amp gauges for the late models. I think it will be alright with a tweaking of the vr

Is there any benefit to a higher amperage alternator? I was thinking the voltage regulator limits the alternator output.

Yes the voltage regulator limits the voltage. But if the alternator is not producing to keep up with the demand of everything drawing in the vehicle the regulator can't regulate what's not being produced. The alternator works off engine RPM. This why my 68 the headlights dim and heater blower slows down at idle.

Stopped for some tacos after work.

Not a lot if your truck is bone stock. I run a bunch of extra crap in mine - winch, ham radios, cb radio, GPS, stereo amp, ARB air compressor, upgraded headlights, etc.

The voltage regulator only regulates the voltage, not the amperage.

Installed an Engel mt45p, found out after alot of searching that the interior light is supposed to stay on all the time, no switch, need to adjust lid as I could see light from inside at night.

First "big" project accomplished. Got the rear window to go up and down. Used parts from Specter help.

I had to remake the hardware and had to cut the the old regulator out (the arms were frozen in the up position). This was a royal PITA, but it's done.

Now, to finish the windshield (if you don't post did the work actually happen?)

WHYD to your Cruiser this week?
Mostly finally made my mind up bought 2013 GMC 5.3 and transmission and transfer case. Painted frame and prayed I can make this work. Looks like I'll be looking for a transfer case adapter but no time soon. And painted and undercoated frame. Oh yeah got new tie rods and ball joints.

What crossbar system are you rocking?
Custom fab stuff from a local shop. I had them bend some steel to match the contours of the bars on the bottom of the Con-Ferr rack. They bent everything and I cut to size and shape.

Yup. That checks out because those are too slick to be off the shelf.
