All three of my horn contacts were rusted away called on the steering wheel guru @Birdhead. He was kind enough to source me a good unit to use a starting point. I don’t know if these are available and really don’t care. I like the challenge so here we go. Measurement are not exact. You try measuring a spring. Going to have to make them out of stainless or find a plater somewhere.

Neat!

Just milled the die on a mill? Or do you have access to freaky stuff like EDM?

Are the original ones made of spring steel? If so, how will you temper the spring?

Awesome work. That’s some badass fabrication skills.

If you decide to produce these, put me down for a customer.

Amazing! What year 40s will this work for?

I was wondering if the spring steel was the same as the 8/80+ 40 series steering wheel. It uses a different part number. I was also surprised to find the 9/72- 7/80 the part number this piece changed part number three times. This is the dates for the steering wheels that had the round pad on the 40 series. First change was 11/73, second change was 9/77. I have a 73, 76 and 79 but not all together. How big a change I do not know.
