Took a much needed day off to enjoy family time and take the 60 to Boulder Lake. What a great place and basically had it all to ourselves. Went bouldering above the lake for some great pictures and fun scrambling. Caught some Brook Trout fly fishing. Lounged and did nothing on the lake shore. The boulders held the perfect amount of warmth and were actually comfortable to chill out on. Hiked also to Little Boulder Lake. Another great day in the Oregon Cascades. The drive in Snowball Is about as enjoyable as the destination.
I've got a really cool video of some Marmots seen near Poughkeepsie Gulch near Ouray, CO. Was up there with my son in the old Subaru last year.Owe ya. Prime habitat for them as you well know.
That's a hell of a log, Sir! Looks like you got it well before the lumber rotted. Lots of potential for the wood, and tons of character in objects made with old growth timber that we hardly see back east anymore.View attachment 3120078

It was a great tree but since it died I’ll have a lot of valuable lumber!
