I am not on any of these sub-forums much anymore but wanted to say thank you for taking the time to document and post this build. The amount of time to take pics, post, describe etc. is astronomical and much appreciated. It carried me through my insomnia from 0300-0500 this morning. Can't think of a better way to pass the time when struggling to sleep.

Amazing build!

Roll cage mock up is done.

Very few details left, back up camera, interior lighting, stereo and seat belts is it. Next will be to blow the entire Cruiser apart for frame weld out and paint. Exhaust weld out too. Then the 45 will go out for body restoration.

Cheers

That's a very elegant cage.

That's a very elegant cage.

Thanks.

The owner really didn’t want one and I don’t blame him. It is not like this Cruiser has a big cab. However, he has a baby boy now. He lives in Wyoming where black ice and wildlife are real road dangers. I felt it was almost required due to these reasons. It needs good seat belts mounted super solid to the cage. The cage needs to handle at least 2-3 rolls. I have rolled a Cruiser myself, it wasn’t a 45 and was trashed not to mention scary. I have heard stories and even seen pics of 45’s that rolled and killed the driver. We built it to save your life in that 1 in a million chance and also to be as tight as possible, during building it I kept sitting in the cab to make sure all fits good. I feel strongly triangulation must be built into a cage, so we got as much in it as we could.

We built the cage from 1/4” wall dom! 😂 Extra beefy and the limits of our bender.

I fully concur with having a nice cage. I was super lucky, but it could have been very bad.

Nice touch with the brace from the headache rack to the bed in the middle. Will add a bit more structure that is hopefully never used. And tire mount I am guessing.

We have walked away from the build for awhile. Last January or so we were ready to crank away on it and something came up for the customer. No problem for us to focus on other builds, we just sent two massive projects home and are now back on this one.

Retro Sound head unit fitted to the old ashtray mount.

Tightened up the “action” on the old vac 4wd lever which is now our elockers lever.

Dash layout coming along, ignore HVAC control knobs, we have billet ones for the final. Lots of little adjustments have been made to the cab, top and windshield so that it all works with the roll cage.

Remember this Cruiser will be a daily driver so it needs a sound system!

Another pic of the dash. A ways back in the build we showed the heater ducts we made for the windshield, that was all about dumping that later windshield plastic piece so the later windshield frame looks a little more period correct.

Whole Cruiser worth of wiring harnesses finalized, tested and built. Still need to wrap them and fit a couple connectors at plugs but this Cruiser is wired and tested for ALL components. 🚀

Here we are pulling them, tear down has begun.

My main man in the shop Chris tig welding out the roll cage.

We have already begun tear down of the Cruiser. Once the cage is welded out the whole truck is getting blown apart as we call it (disassembled), chassis final weld out done, little rust repair in the back of the frame as well. Paint the chassis all out, reassemble a rolling chassis, plop the body back on and out for paint. We are going to do a light go through on the engine now while the body is out for paint.

Much more to come!

Yes, 79-series parts! Love it, almost a match on the gusset/brace (triangular piece) on the edge from 1967 to 2023!! The tire mount is also 79-series parts we “massaged” a little for the 67’. Doesn’t get much cooler than that in the automotive world in my opinion.

Cheers
