You’ve been a seafarer, the weather out there exposed to the real westcoast can be anything, even if it’s 30 degrees and sun on the east side of Vancouver island.

June 27th 2020 about 13 degrees C and condensing fog.

I'm very sorry @stevebradford , but my other half has kyboshed my plans for joining this trip. We have a family reunion to go to in Saskatchewan, and she wants to leave earlier than I thought we were going to.

wish the timing worked for my planned island trip later in July. Always enjoyed time in the bog ; )
local wetland here with plenty of sundew. seen fly traps on the island but never seen a pitcher plant in the field.
have fun

First picture is Drosera rotundifolia

Second picture is Drosera anglica

You can grow these fairly easily as long as you have the right conditions, full sun, exposed floating logs or considerably moist open peaty soil. I will have a plethora of seeds of Drosera rotundifolia the hardiest of the two if anyone is interested, and some plants for you Seapotato.

Some of mine I grow.

Seapotato you need to get some floating fir logs stabilized so they don’t roll in your pond for the plants as the edges are too weedy and would shade out the sundews from what I have seen. Like these logs from oliphant lake that last for several years before they sink, the lower they get the better the habitat, sundew seed floats so they are always colonizing new logs.

Perfect. There's a few floaters out there now, but I can add more if the beaver doesn't beat me to it...

ha. for a moment thought that was my shaggy aussie but she probably never met a bull frog. it is frog and toad breeding time though so they are moving around.

Ha, they do share a bit of a look. Think ours might be smaller, she's only about 28 lbs but it's hard to tell under all that fur.

She was kinda horrified by the bullfrog. It was almost comatose from the cold, if it had jumped she'd have hit the ceiling haha

Alright there’s two options for people coming:

- meet at my place before 9am (message me for the address)

- meet at the bottom of north main for people who know where that is,

We'll probably aim for your place, I can barely find my ass with both hands and a flash light, let alone some dirt road in the boonies...

How long is the hike from the trucks? Just thinking about shoes, and if they get soaked is it a long walk back squelching and squeaking.

We can drive as close as about as far as from your house to your pond for most of it, definitely bring a second pair of shoes for the drive home and expect wet feet walking around the bog.

Steve's place is easier to find... once you're in the right area, just drive around the drive till you smell(see) his cruiser graveyard. I'm sure most of us can sniff out a rotting cruiser carcass from a mile away.

His place is even visible in google maps.

I’m offended, nothing but pure gold round here!

Doesn’t have to be much left of a diesel cruiser to be worth more than a gasser

I'm not saying they're not worth a fortune... I did sell my first set of cruiser headrests for $195 USD... and that was 20 years ago. I can only imagine where the bidding would go on the next set I list for $2.

I think every cruiser head on the island already knows where he lives.

Even some dirty mainlanders:lol:
