You are the Australian BOBM
Bobm is a god compared to my efforts. I just hit things with hammers over bits of metal like a caveman until it's sort of a shape.

That's pretty much what metalshaping is.

Sheetmetal can be cut, bent, stretched, shrunk and welded, and that's it. Everything else is a combination of all those.

Yeah congrats x2!

I was lucky enough to visit my groomen's shed who's almost ready to start his dualcab conversion again. Now with larger shed, more space and skills.

He cut the body of his 95 HDJ80R with 1HD-FT Multi Valve diesel back 4 years ago and put a 600mm chassis extention.

He rolled the vehicle and now is redoing the cut.

Purchased a 1FZ80 with 1FZFE and part time conversion. He keeps the cab, I get the chassis.

Long overdue update.
Rear flares.

Cut out the rusty parts of the rear. There was some inner channel sections which were dealt with also.

Finally then smoothed off with rust converter and filler.

Also started pulling apart the 80 series donor car. Trying to keep all the wiring neat and labelled as the loom will be transfered as an entire unit.

Did you put the outer metal that cut out back in or make new pieces or filled in the space with filler?

Thanks for walking us through your work here.
All new metal.

Higher up in the thread on this page a jig was set up to roll the new sections into position.

That is awesome!!!
My wife drove up to our wedding in our 40, her Dad was next to her, dogs in the back.
It was pretty cool!
I will try to find pics...
Found 'em! I thought there were more, but this is what I am finding now...

And then my little nephew figured out the horn button while my Dad and GSD supervised:
