I have been tapping them to 1/2 BSPT and using the OEM 85-up threaded plug with pre-applied sealer

This fix lasted about 6 1/2 years and now the leak is back.
Jim this post gives me some peace, not much though, lol…this threaded plug on my 3FE looked leaky. Plan was to just back it out and reseal and call it good.
I put a wrench to it and a fair amount of muscle, that thing wasn’t budging. I almost put the breaker bar to it when a vision of stripped or broken carnage on the back the engine block flashed before my eyes. I stopped there.

Cleaned it up real good and filled the plug surface with Toyota FIPG and squished it in with the bell housing. Fingers crossed.

(Just noticed your plug was a press in version).
