Does that pass side get into the shock body just barely at full stuff ? my front is same as far as shock position and arms and I had to shave down the stud and just a bit of the arm to clear that shock body. It just rubs at stuff hard driver now.

Yes it does, but ive never seen it happen, not sure what circumstance it occurs in.

I need to cut down the arm studs, that should fix it.

Went to Carolina Relic Run this past weekend, and one night I passed out early, so the boys @cruisermatt and Austin (what's his username matt?) TP'd my truck

We ran some trails, then posed for pictures. It was fun. Heim steering works beautifully, don't even know it's there, and it didn't loosen up.

Built a pressure adapter to pressure test my cooling system, chasing a coolant leak that I can't pinpoint. Found a loose clamp, thought I was good, then when checking another day I realized the water pump was failing/had failed  New one on order.

Finally got around to changing the bent spring up front. Turns out the main leaf was broken under the u-bolt plate . Must have been that way since I bent it in October. I've been on one hard wheeling trip, two or three easy wheeling trips, and a bunch of highway miles since then

Took the main and second leafs out of my pack, replaced them with the main and second leafs from a spare pack, and slapped it back in.

New waterpump, leak fixed. Can't seem to get above 40psi anymore, so I must have more leaks *sigh*. No worries though, she's still fun as **** to drive, lol.

I had a weird issue at the beginning when I started loosing boost. Ultimately it ended up being the air filter clogging. You tried that already?

Not yet, but I picked up a filter minder anticipating that issue. Just need to add it to the intake tube

I kept having boost issues all the time. I got a friend to weld most of the intercooler pipe. Now there are only a few places it could possibly leak from. But Generally stopped having those issues.

I had planned on taking moonshine to Uwharrie with @Zjohnsonua last weekend. Checked all the fluids, topped up the doubler, put that new water pump in, and did a few other things. That trip got canceled due to weather. Bummer, but iiwii.

This weekend was supposed to be an expo style trip in Western NC / eastern TN, so I did my food prep, truck prep, and headed out yesterday afternoon. Moonshine really didn't want to go.

About an hour and a half in @raanderson77 @Hokie LX and I paused to meet up with @AJR . Upon inspection of Moonshine, I noticed she was pouring gear oil out of *I think* the doubler. It only holds 3/4-1qt of oil to begin with, so instead of risking burning it up, I turned around to go home, through a rainstorm.

This afternoon I drove to my local watering hole, about a mile from my house. No doubler gear oil for a mile, no big deal. As I was walking away, some rando shouted "oil is pouring out". OK, cool cool cool, let's check. Turns out it was coolant, not oil.

Oh jeez, dried coolant all over the engine bay. Must have been from last night.

Perfect, the brand new water pump from last week is dumping out of the weep hole. Wonderful.

Oh well. At least I was able to drive myself home.

Yeah, she don't seem to wanna go.... but J, I think you have an issue with the rear RH leaf, ubolt back there ?!
Optical illusion. The ubolts are fine in real life (I double checked) but thank you!

New Cummins oem water pump, to the tune of $250. Hopefully I get more than 100miles out of it. Though the one that failed wasn't oem, it should have lasted more than 100 miles

Jerry can mount! @Hokie LX came over to hang out and we came up with this idea, then knocked it out. I'm stoked.

All brackets cleaned up and painted, ready to go on for good tomorrow.

Couple of weeks late, but GSMTR 2022 was epic as usual. Jerry can mount was amazing, no shifting, no issues, only mildly annoying. Backed it into a bank at one point too and it held together. Moonshine had three issues over the course of the week:

1. Driving the road on the way back one day, the transmission seemed to lock me out of 3rd gear. Not sure why. Stopped at a gas station to get beer, then it seemed to fix itself. Trans synchros 3 and 4 have been going out for a while, but are completely gone now. Have to rev match to get it to shift without grinding, but it usually still grinds.
2. One of my swampers finally split open in one of the age/dry rot cracks. Kind of a bummer, but not unexpected. 3 plugs the first time, then the next day another 8 plugs in the same spot (after the first three popped out).
3. Going up the paved hill at windrock, she got a bit hot, 230* iirc. Checked it out and found a coupler on the upper rad line that wasn't holding pressure anymore. Got that swapped out and system burped, all fixed.

Had a blast wheeling with my buddies @cruisermatt @AJR @UZJ105 @Hokie LX @IcutYourCruiser @aquatech3 @ceby @4LowandSlow @Fort Knox @Zjohnsonua

Actually laid her on her side in this spot, but drove out. First time for that!

Since before gsmtr moonshine has had a pretty bad gear oil leak, requiring I top up the doubler every day of gsmtr. Not ideal. That on top of the fact that my trans was going bad, it was time to pull it apart.

After plasma cutting the bolts holding the skid plate on because all the rivnuts were seized or spun, I got some pics of the leak.

Looked like it was coming out of the tcase-doubler mounting surface to me.

PXL_20220804_220312113.jpg

Yup, sure enough all of the countersunk tcase adapter bolts werent even finger tight. Must have loosened up over time. Iirc I bought this case and doubler setup assembled, and never checked these fasteners, but I should have. I've been chasing a leak for a long while, just didn't occur to me it'd be these.

Pulled the trans out and ordered a brand new one. Should be here in a few weeks. Pulled the top cover off and found pretty worn synchro engagement teeth, so it was time.

Got any photos of those synchros?

What size are those countersunk bolts?

Not sure, haven't taken them out yet. I'll check the threads in the case, and if good, flood them with red loctite so they can't come out again.
