She did another 400 miles round trip this weekend and didn’t miss a beat.

Sweet! I'm lookin forward to seeing this beautiful 70 series in person! sounds like you are ready for the long drive across the country.

The cockpit is feeling pretty comfy! I’ve driven coast to coast 3 times in the past two years, twice in a 6,000 lb van with an 88hp N/A diesel, so Colorado and back with my 140hp turbo diesel should be a breeze.

Had a touch of death wobble while braking. Found a blown up wheel bearing race and rusty mud behind the lockout. It's patched up for tomorrow's commute. One less gremlin to surprise me later

Finished the knuckle rebuild on the 60 finally, the kit from Cruiser Outfitters is nice.

I made an adapter for the 54 mm 3/8 drive socket to work with my 1/2 drive torque wrench from a 17 mm head bolt large enough to grind a square 3/8 drive from the threads.( I live an hour from nearest autoparts store) works great.

@mesa man that‘s some good thinking on that adapter, good work!

MY TEST RUN:

Driving the 60 on 5/20/22 to Flagstaff, Az. to attend the Overland Expo 5/20-21. Then meeting a buddy & leaving 5/21 -5/27 to traverse the original Old Spanish Trail, beginning in Page, Az and across Az, Ut. & part of Nv. Off grid camping.

Should be a great test run.😊🙏
Completed my 1200 mile Test Run. 3 vehicles, 4 camp nights, great scenery & no mechanical issues by anyone. Change the oil, add the tent & make room for Maureen 💄💅💄& we s/b ready for SAS.🏕🪵

Oh, and the Expo in Flagstaff was excellent too.

Thanks Casey…it IS a great picture of the dam @ Lake Powell close to Page, Az., but it really shows how low the water level is out west.

Anybody ever been up Mt. Antero? I think its the only 14er you can drive almost all the way to the top. I tried it in my Hiace last year but didn't make it all the way lol. Also, hope there's some fog out there this year cuz I'm ready for it with these Koito fogs from @Cruiser Cult.

Yep, but the climbing is the best part. My wife, youngest son, and I climbed Mt. Antero probably 20 years ago or more. We parked at about 10,000 feet and hiked straight up a gully on the north side, shortcutting the switchbacks in the road. There were a few vehicles near the top.

Cool idea fellers. With the diversity of our extended family and the regions they arrive from I suggest bringing something regional that you enjoy with you. Could be salsa, coffee, cheese, bread, sausage, beer. Something to share with new and old friends. A Potluck of our regional pallets.
Bring your favorites.
I'll probably bring up some of @ceylonfj40nut's favorite New Mexico brew.

My '86 FJ60 needs some A/C work, hopefully just an R134a recharge. I need to get this done before Kay and I head back to Texas late next week for the Toyota Texas Takeover at MERUS Adventure Park. We took the '76 FJ40 to the Land Cruiser Unite event last fall at MERUS, can't wait to get the FJ60 down into the canyon this year.
