Worked on a fan shroud for my 2uz swap. Had to offset it a little too since it was within a 1/2” of the old fan pulley.

Wished I had left enough room for a mechanical fan, but hindsight is 20/20.

Pretty sure that’s the same 2 speed Volvo fan I have on my V8 swapped 40. Works great.

Edit: ha @ceylonfj40nut I was going to tag you

Had an exhaust leak on my Sanderson headers attached to a 383 stroker. I followed the directions sent with the headers, "RTV black, wait till it dries." Maybe not circling back and retorquing caused the blow out. Replaced with Remflex gaskets. Assuming this problem will not resurface. The only oil dipstick that works with the Sanderson headers is the Lokar flex tube dipstick. Unfortunately, my inner plastic melted and pushed the dip stick in so hard, broke off the tip. Now I have a new Lokar dipstick at a better angle, hopes this works.

The exhaust leak coupled with a faulty IAC motor has mode the sniper impossible to tune. I dyno'd it at 210 hp. Hoping the new IAC motor and fixed exhaust leak will help with tuning.

Started the twin stick transfer case install, hoping to finish this week.

worked on mock up of fresh rebuilt FJ62 axles and fzj80 steering gearbox..

3000+ miles later……Got it delivered and off the truck….then drove it into the driveway…same driveway my wife and I drove into with my 1974 FJ40 when we bought the house in 1978.

Got a pic of your Sanderson headers installed? I’m running some Sanderson S10 headers.

Stock dipstick tube (95 tbi engine) worked

Today I ran across a guy you know here as @ToyotaMatt… was a simple question as my FJ40 arrived with a bad alternator and voltage regulator. I ‘pm’ed” him a quick note and question… what a fabulous reply I’d gotten and our discussion led to my finding perfect replacement parts which he is sending out to me..

I am so new to the IH8MUD. Not new to Land Cruisers as it was my first new car in 1974 when I was 21. Lots of time has gone by since but IH8MUD has been responsible for my
1.) finding a good FJ40 (ok. 3000 miles away)
2.) meeting INCREDIBLY HELPFUL people here
3.) finding a bunch of parts I thought could be hard to find
4.) re-developing my mechanical skills
5.) getting my last hoorah in my aging life and enjoying the heck out of it

so, the outside world seems to have faded away for the moment and created enthusiasm I ain’t seen in a few years….

Thanks

@ToyotaMatt has pulled through every time I have called him and very thorough to say the least. He comes up with some unique stuff. Never disappoints. And very knowledgeable.

X10

I’ve been very impressed by Matt’s clever solutions and parts he is refurbishing.

He custom fabricated a 180* pipe (fitting) with flaired ends for me when I was unable to find what I needed and the local hydraulic shop (that always seems to come through) said they didn’t have the equipment to make the parts.
