Just received a quote from Hotbox Powder Coating for the 40's wheels: $110 per wheel. Ouch.

I paid $150.00 per wheel blasted and PC Just the powder was $300.00
I think a black set I had done was $125 per if memory serves

price include media blast?

He didn't say it didn't, so I assumed it was drop off the wheels, wait two days, pay $110/ea and take them home

I may use the cheapo pressure washer version (Ultimate Washer) of the vapor hone to remove the paint some moron covered the OEM gray with and repaint them.

Keith Rucker likes his and @tuffmudder liked the Simpson model (which, apparently, isn't available anymore)

Sandblast them in the back yard and rattle can them Massey Ferguson gray. Cost for four bags of sand, 5 cans of primer and 10 cans of paint < $150 total. Let me know if you need a blaster. I have one you can use, assuming you have air. If paint was good enough for Mr. T, it's good enough for me. In addition, paint can be touched up easily if you ever get a rock scrape or curb rash. Not that easy with powder.

I have a small cabinet (which won't work, becasue it's too small) and a gravity feed separate sandblast unit that I bought for the 80's frames. I may use that. If if doesn't impress me, I may spring for the wet system; I really like that idea, because it doesn't scatter sand all over the place.

Get the rest of the bed off today. Going to pull the busted up half doors and make new ones. Also going to spend about an hour on each B pillar with the dent puller and straight then out. Not make them perfect, just better than they currently are.
Also going to either pull the front fenders or just cut them more to keep the 40” tires out of them.
I’m also going to cut those two diagonal bars. They kind of limit the full use of the whole bed. Might try to Incorporate them somewhere else but I’m not worried if they don’t make the cut.
More progress next week.

Any plans with the old bed pieces that came off?

The pieces are in the bed of the truck. Going to go drop it off at the metal recycling place tomorrow.

Chasing down the hot/stall/stop issue in the 100. Apparently a common issue in 06/07. First step is a fuel pump and filter. AutoZone clerk was having a case of the Fridays so I offered to find the part myself.

I feel you. I sometimes wish there was a "self service" option for those who know more than the store clerks.

Got all the inside metal all sanded out and primed with epoxy primer. All metal is now primed out with 3 coats of epoxy primer.
It never ceases to amaze me how much total work is involved in prepping out a vehicle for paint.

Every square inch gets sanded out lightly at 320 and then gets shot with 3 coats of build primer. You guessed it, it then gets sanded out AGAIN and AGAIN!!

You're my hero

Happy Memorial Day weekend!! In all seriousness, thank you to all that served and sacrificed so I could tinker on a hobby!!

'06 Sequoia wheelbearings... pressing out/in tomorrow and hopefully a successful reassembly

Second water pump in a month, oem this time. Hopefully this one lasts more than 100 miles

I know, it's not ideal but I thought it would at least work some.... it's so tight to get something to hold the spindle behind the hub to try to press the hub out. I just can't do it. I'll concede defeat and try to find a shop to press the bearing out/in for me tomorrow then reassemble.

I'll start accumulating more steel pieces for future attempts. I enjoyed trying at least

Thanks to @fourtrax for the press!!

I keep an old disc around, for just such occasions. Makes a perfect anvil.

Getting Sandy ready for GSMTR
- Wired in my blue sea fuse block with a new light bar, new Midland 40W radio, and some USB outlets on the dash to replace the cig outlets that were screwed into the bottom of the dash. Hoping to add one more thing but TBD if it will arrive before I leave
- Added 4* castor shims
- Rebuilt carburetor, adjusted valves and attempted to tune it in as best I could
- Added light bar and a one off custom Moonshine Fabworks winch controller relocation bracket
- Added a RJ45 extension cable to the midland radio to allow the mic to be plugged into the dash.

To do:
- Put more miles on it before I leave and then drain trans fluid before the trip
- Attempt to build a rear platform if there's enough time
- AC conversion/recharge/evaluate for problems
- Swap in new brake booster to replace the defective one
- Clean up wiring in the cab

I currently have the Midland 6db 32" antenna on the rear near the hi-lift but am debating moving it up to the top of the front bumper as I'm worried about interference on signal from being 3" away from the jack. Could also put the ghost antenna on the front which is only 3-4" tall. Thoughts?
