A dark sky site , away from the city lights will give a more contrasting view, but even in the middle of the city, this is an amazing event to see. You don't need a telescope to see this . Binoculars will be an easy way to get a slightly closer look, too

Very nice eclipse, though the clouds did limit some viewing.
