I’ve seen sawdust insulation on old timers, but never stick built foundation below grade.Well, I didn’t build it, but I have to replace it. After removing an old deck, I discovered the basement walls were made of old timber. The old part of the house was built late 1800,s in an old coal mine area. Sawdust was used as insulation. Original siding is 1x6, then someone put tar paper that looks like brick then the cedar siding. The basement is all hand hewn logs/timber. Anyone else seen sawdust insulation?
