There's a pair of complete original patina 68' taillights with rock guards and brackets on ebay right now, ending in a couple days. Not mine, I've got no affiliation with them. Search item number 284762482496

Your cones look pretty good! The lights are still available for 68 ( different and smaller than the ones posted by some which are the bigger 69-73, and have a different bolt pattern ). The metal brackets are hard to find. Btb has nice thick powder coated repros. I used them on my 68-69 40. They're nice.

My brackets and lights were toast too, but luckily the original 68 style cones and gaskets were good.

Btb?

So I may be a bit confused, what‘s new, but the 69-73 taillights are different sized than the 64-68 taillights, and so are the associated cones. (And the pre-64 taillights are also different and smaller than the 64-68).

Here’s some pics - 64-68 is on the left, 69-73 is on the right:

I don’t think the cones interchange, the later 69-73 are shorter in height, not sure about diameter but they definitely mount differently (e.g. two bolts vs four bolts). I believe Cruiser Cults repops are for 64-68.

You have all your info correct! 👍

@ZooTownCruiser do you have 68 lights/cones on your 69? If you need a 69-73 light (beat up) and/or cone (ok shape iirc) the one pictured above is yours for shipping.

on edit: it’s possible your ‘69 has some ‘68 stuff (like taillights) due to transition timing, esp. if yours is an early ‘69

For reference, the tail light iterations. BJT, 25, 40 (not including the different wagon/PU variants)

We stock everything but the top one @ Cruiser Outfitters

One thing I've learned from both this forum, and from ordering missing parts from my rig, is that someone is seriously watching out for me.

I literally accidentally ordered the correct brackets and taillight assembly without knowing or understanding what I was doing at the time.

I did not have a single clue that the year differences were so significant.

You need to get yourself a cruiser with some real rust!

Photo dump! I found a Cool Cruisers of Texas springs and shocks on Craigslist for super cheap. Just had to pick up the bushings u bolts and shackles. Looks pretty dang good. Time for tires now. Also @rkymtnflyfisher is the cruiser whisperer!! I had the bright idea to pick up a pertronix unit. Well somehow I managed to jack that up and couldn’t get her running again. Thanks to a new distributor from another mudder he was able to get her purring again.

@rkymtnflyfisher would probably come help more if you had something besides the Red, White and Pabst Blue Ribbon.

Nice work! I think those desert duelers might be original! ;)

What are you going to replace them with?

Those actually came out of my cooler! I had a couple from cutting wood in the morning, figured I'd knock em back while turning wrenches!

Not sure yet. Always been a fan of the BF Goody KO2’s for modern vehicles. But not sure what to put on this old girl. What do you think she should get?

Hold on partner cause here it comes...Posting this question will get more comments, opinions and manifestos than you can imagine...It's like asking "what's is the best color TLC"...:worms:

I'll set it up...AT? MT? Hybrid? - Ok fella's, let er' rip.....:smokin:
