I tried chasing you down at Roundup to finally meet face to face but to no avail. I drove right past you in my Tundra on the trail trying in vain to find my campsite Friday when I got there. I put two and two together on whose 73 just went by and realized it was you lol.
Next time.

Awesome progress, thanks for sharing

@dogfishlake well crap. Sorry I missed you. My work schedule sucked this year and I literally only had a day trip to get out to Mason and back. I had seven hours at Roundup and didn’t get to meet everyone….got a few hours of easy trails in though. We will meet in person soon.

Yessir. I hope to not take as long as last time to get back to Texas

Subtank is in place, welded up by the visiting Bill Stayner. I’m now #billspec!

Is the truck in or out? That is both a practical and a metaphysical question. More on that later.

This weekend I hope to tear into the FTE, and possibly even get the FT put back together so I can sell it.

Friday night lights.

The move to the FTE is pushing me out of my comfort zone. Which I guess is good.

I made an EGR block off plate tonight because without the EGR system, the open exhaust manifold couldn’t build pressure, and the turbo wouldn’t spool. And I just had an irrational worry that something was wrong.

The motor ran nicely but just barked. Slapping an EGR block off on their let it spool up nicely, even with the VNT turbo and its goiter-y compressor inlet.

I started wondering about feeding this hungry beast. The FTE uses a 12 mm fuel line. The lines coming out of the HZJ79 subtank’s fuel sender looked decidedly slender. So I looked it up, and lo and behold there is an FTE specific fuel pick up, and it’s only 22 bucks. Ordering that sucker right now.

FTE 79 subtank pickup:

Tube assembly, fuel suction 77240–60500
HZJ79 subtank pickup: 77017-60540

I think that line is irrelevant as your filter holds a reserve in it , unless you are doing a ton of modifications I think the filter will hold more then enough in it .

See? Too much overthinking. But for $21.48 I’ll chance it.

$20 here $20 there, pretty soon you’re talkin $20K

Why stop there, Kelly?

Cleaning out storage PODs. The dogs are not helpful.

Absolutely zero offense taken, it’s hard to get the tone of a half sarcastic statement just right over the Internet. My fault on that one. This 79 project is a money pit and I don’t see that changing at any time.

We got Leyna the shepherd about a year ago. She is a great dog.

She looks fabulous! We are on our second shepherd for a reason, they are just great dogs. I may need to keep Max away from her so his high stress antics don’t rub off on her.

@Will Van hooked me up with two of his alternator harnesses. What a great solution to getting switched power to an auxiliary fuse block under the hood. Thank you again, Will.
