Trying out some 2014 Tundra TRD Off-road wheels

is this the same part as the harrop/eaton? or is eaton a different part number?
If I’m remember right from when I was looking for a rear locker they are crossed referenced but Harrop AU has a different part number than the Eaton but they are the same unit.

I reached out to the guys at Cruiser Bros for snagging this puppy, just verified the part number against Eaton’s application guide.

Appreciate it man

Broke it...

Thinking back to the timing belt job I did a year ago I can't recall if the fan bracket was replaced, but I'm guessing it wasn't. I think the brand new fan clutch finally did it in after 235K miles.

Parts were on order before the tow truck showed up. Should have it back up in no time.

This must be the year of fan bracket failures. I'm losing count of the number that I've seen fail over the past 6 months. I replaced mine a few months ago.

Not a whole lot going on. Got big booty Judy up in the air and knocked out greasing the U-joints and slip yokes. While I had her in the air noticed that imma probably need a skid for the fuel tank.

Greased up, took a 5 mile loop, and checked again.

Fuel tank skid not too bad, but might end up getting one sooner than later.

General inspection.

Mine started making horrible noise at 248k miles. Since it requires almost as much disassembly as the whole timing belt job, I just did the full timing belt at the same time too!

Had some time today so i drilled and mounted the side rails to the bracket. This thing is stout, 1/4” aluminum bracket this thing isn’t going anywhere. After that i cleaned up the drill holes and sanded and primed. Going to lay down satin black hopefully tomorrow. Excited to finally get this done. Oh i mocked up the wind deflector with foam core. Probably pickup lexan or acrylic for now.

What a journey

I took Lexi (not the most creative name, but it fits that Mint Eucalyptus metallic color and my wife likes it) out for a shakedown ride down Horse Pasture Road to check out the sunset over Lake Jocasse. Had a flat tire when I refilled, down to the rim. Thankfully it was right across the street from a tire shop, and they found it was just a bad valve stem, so after paying $10, we were on our way. Here are some pics along with my observation:

  • This thing handled the gravel/dirt path with ease (like I knew it would). The washouts, ruts, and rocks gave it zero problems, and it climbed the ascents like a billygoat. going down the steeper descents I dropped it to 2 on the transmission and the engine braking worked perfectly, and I only had to hit the brakes before the curves.
  • Steering is great at low speeds (under 35 MPH or so). It feels a little looser at moderate/highways speeds. Not sure if that’s normal or not.
  • I anticipated deleting the AHC and lifting it for 35” tires. But I also went with the IFS 100 series over an 80 series because I have spine/knee/shoulder issues and desired the more comfortable ride, and the AHC did not disappoint! I plan on keeping it and doing whatever I can for routine maintenance on it.
  • I need to find a better trail to put my low range and diff locker to the test. I engaged the diff locker just the feel the difference but It wasn’t necessary and I turned it off after about 30 seconds. Low worked in the parking lot before I bought it, but I need to figure out how to drive the this thing over some more technical obstacles using low range and the traction control system.
  • after using ethanol free 87 octane fuel in the first tank full immediately after buying it, I got 13 MPG with about 50% of that being highway. I barely used a quarter tank yesterday on premium fuel, and power felt much stronger to go with the much improved economy, so I don’t think I can afford to run the cheaper fuel. There was no engine knocking with the 87 octane, but it’s so much more responsive with 93.

After loosing a flexible solar panel on I70, I replaced it with a solid Renogy.

Installed a cat prevention device, aka ASFIR center skid. I cut down the stock belly pan to use with the aftermarket skid.

I exposed more of the cruisers overseas standard features and installed a pintle on the rear cross member with Toyota fasteners and trim piece.
