A few weeks ago I got a random Facebook message from a man in Starkville Mississippi wanting to sell his FJ60. He sent a couple photos and a price and I passed on it due to the price. I was on an epic 10 day off road trip and literally forgot about it.

Fast forward a few weeks and I was headed through Starkville with some time to blow because @RocketCityCrzrs is running late for our meeting.

I rolled in and found this nice copper brown 1983 that peaked my interest. I’m not big on fresh pain jobs so I steeled myself for a mess

What I found was a treasure.

109,000 miles. That’s pretty rare. Compete package. The exterior vent plastics are all good. All the glass is original. Paint job is a B+. I don’t have any before photos but I figure it was faded out.

So I thought about it a few days. It kept me up a few nights and I went back for it. @jomelo said he would take it at the guys asking price so I brought it home

But then John told me he had a friend that is local that has been looking for a FJ60 to turn into a mild expo rig.

He put us in touch and since he’s Johns friend I passed the deal on to him with the agreement I would put a few goodies on it and then deliver it when I go to pick up the upcoming FJ45 project from John.

This was 16 days ago.

Parts have been rolling in steadily. This one will be pretty cool. Keep following.

First to arrive was the ARB front from @cruiseroutfit

Front bumper came off easy and I rust converted and painted behind it

Using my little jack table it was a one man job.

Sadly, the spanking new 8274 that came in had been dropped badly and I did not know until I opened it and saw all the oil and then the gear lever 👎👎👎👎

These have to be mounted to the bumper then the truck but the 60ARB bumper is pretty easy to pull for this.

Hard to believe there are still low mile 60's still around. Love the interior safari brown color and with no ripped driver seat, unbelievable. The poo brown exterior is another deal though, but heh, low miles regardless. Looking forward to the build up as always! Are you going to keep the carb or go with the fuel injection on this one?

Gone will be the spaghetti and the carburetor.

This morning we had a nice snow here so I was a little delayed getting started.

Once I got focused I got CBrown up on the operating table and started yanking s*** off looking for leaks. Issues. Prep for coming work.

Once I got my parts list started I decided to go ahead and dive into the front axle. I’ve got it all soaking in Zepp Purple for the night.

One thing about the timeline that really worked in Joe’s favor was the fact that I had two H55s headed my way via @orangefj45 at Valley Hybrids so I was able to elbow my way in line for a third to round out the 1100# and $20,000 pallet

3 x new H55s…..2 with new Splits, one with a Georg rebuilt. You have to look close to tell the rebuilt from new to Georg’s credit.

As always, greatly appreciate working with you. Looking forward to the progress pics!

After a good Zepp soak the pressure washer makes quick work of the greasy knuckle parts
