We also got the crown jewel back from the powder coater this morning and made a beeline back to the shop to install…

We’re going to need to modify the bend in the dipstick tube to clear the air cleaner, but everything fits great.

Here’s the routing of the upper radiator hose:

Last but not least, we have all of the senders for the Sniper and Dakota Digital and plugs in the remaining unused holes…

Here’s the plan for the water outlet…

I thought it would be cool if we could machine this end:

… in a stub of the other end:

Pictured is a non-US outlet. The US version has the boss, but it isn’t drilled & tapped. But I cut this to see if the inside was circular enough for the machine shop to chuck it using inside jaws.

We’re lucky, it’s close enough that I think we could get it to spin true:

We run into a snag though. While the bung on the US outlet is not drilled out, there is a void on the backside that we would likely need to drill out to clean material and weld it shut.

So, on to Plan C!

Let me figure out what all happened in this latest frenzy of activity and I’ll come back with some commentary. I think you guys put something in my booster shot.

Fuggit, let’s go straight to the punchline and figure out the details tomorrow…

are you using the original cab mounts. looking for the one under driver seat. looks like a big letter X. spot welded to tub with a stud that will drop into frame mount and bolt down. any leads. also need transmission tunnel or floor pan. any advice.

Hit up the classifieds if you're patient, if not try vendors like SOR and Classic Cruisers

Plan C was to cut off & weld the machined outlet to the stub end. If we were going to weld a hole, we might as well skip the trip to the machine shop and just weld it together here.

So, we cut all extraneous bosses and nipples and then made it as short as possible…

The plan from here was to join two 90 degree hoses with a coupler, and if we cut them just right, they will line up perfectly with the radiator outlet.

This is where things get blurry. ETAF downloads a message from the mind expander and points to a cut off piece of water outlet.

The next thing I know the water outlet is piecing itself together.

It works out we can ditch the coupler and just use one hose:

The cross sections of the pieces are similar enough that it shouldn’t add much turbulence to the flow, if any.

Add an FJ60 hose, and we are in business.

There’s still just enough room to sneak the plug wires by.

Over on the other side, we’ve got the grenade pins ready to pull:

We also bolted on this racing part to block off the oil level sensor we will not be using:

Last, but not least, the dipstick tube received a tasteful bend, and is awaiting a tab to lock it in place:
