UPDATE: She is finally live on BaT. 1997 Lexus LX450 - 1997 Lexus LX450 - Https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-lexus-lx450-47/

Got this LX450 with the intention to build an overland rig. But I really have my heart set on a sage 40th. So back to the search, and this one is going to BaT.

If you're interested to see the rest of the car, there's a few hundred photos of it here: LX450 - https://photos.app.goo.gl/bfuKKdteZhMZZooF6

In the meantime, thought I'd share what's going on with the LX450.

Got some Gamiviti seat gears and caps for the front seats. Replaced them and power seats are back to 100% functional again. Step by step video below:

Installed some new hood struts, and that heavy slab of steel rises up on it's own again. Like magic!! Step by step video:

And the same with the trunk hatch:

Installed some new OEM Toyota valve cover hoses and OEM Toyota PCV valve, along with that pesky PCV grommet. Step by step below:

Installed some Denso IK16-5303 Iridium spark plugs.

And OEM Toyota spark plug wires and coil wire. WAAAAY better than anything aftermarket. Do yourself a favor. Stick to OEM Toyota with these sorts of parts:

I dig the paint color assuming this is factory original. Glws!

Are the non-sliding rear windows factory on the LX? I always thought they came with all the bells and whistles.
Previous owner ordered them from overseas and had them installed along with all new glass on the entire vehicle. No more bronze glass. It's the first time I have seen the non-sliding rear glass, I kind of like it better, looks more clean in my opinion.

Hmm, I have four sets of solid glass. Maybe I should finally do something with them :hmm:

Oof, that's one that sale that could end in regret.
Looks tidy.
Oh man, I'm feeling it already. My wife even said I should keep it and she hates old cars. But I think she's tired of me trying to find the right toy to play with for a few years.
wow, my lx450 (nearly the same number of miles (211K)) has not lived as nice of a life it seems
This one has had a LOT of restoration work by the previous owners. New carpet, new leather, a lot of religious maintenance, total glass out and trim out whole car paint, all new glass, mechanicals all kept maintained, etc... That's why I wanted to start with this one. And it is beautiful, but I think I just want to build what I used to have in my old 97 sage 40th in that same color. I miss it.

What, no carpet on the garage floor for your baby? Shame on you!!!
Hey!! That carpet is so nice to walk on in the winter :) and all I have to do is vacuum it once a week and shampoo it every 6 months or so. Way better than epoxy for my purposes. Except I can't spill oil on it, which is a pain.

Looks nice GLWS.
Thanks!

I gotta admit. I really like non-slider glass "upgrade". I remember on one of my old 80's I would get water in the rear sliding glass every now and then and it would leave the interior wet for a while. And on another it used to leak if I pressure washed it or went through a pressure wash type carwash. Rarely do I need a third row seat, so it is totally something I'm down with.

Dogs love and need rear sliding windows!

why not just paint it? you're going to sell it and try and find a 40th right now at the top of the market? Seems like you have a fantastic platform to tweak to your liking.

I guess I could. But this thing is perfect for someone else to own. Not a single thing wrong.

I kick myself everyday day for not buying that high milage supercharged 40th several weeks ago on BaT that went for $25k-ish. It would have been perfect.

Hey Group. I'd like your input if you're up for it. I'm getting my 1997 LX450 prepped for sale on BringaTrailer and getting as much documentation, photos, and videos ready as I have time. This video I went through and did temp checks at operating temp of the radiator in/out, cylinder head, exhaust manifolds, heater, AC, and steering during costing/acceleration/braking. I would love the groups suggestions on what else to get video or photos of. The other major thing I was going to get a video of was compression test. Anything else you guys think would be useful from the eyes of a potential buyer?

Here is the video I just loaded today on temp checks:

Here are a bunch of other videos. Do you guys think I should use any of these as part of the Bringatrailer auction listing? Or just keep it basic?
