Enjoyed the last 2 pours out of this bottle for Christmas with my brother.
Now I need help finding another!
So good

Seems like a pattern. I had a couple of pours of Weller 12 last night as well. Definitely one of my favorites!

@JToobe the last I looked I saw those stores that had it were selling for $350 or more.

@Fort Knox & @77cruiser , curious as to how much were paid for the bottles of Weller 12?

The bottle I now have open, I was lucky enough to get it when a new ABC store opened near Chapel Hill a couple years ago and they had a Grand Opening bottle release, so I paid MSRP for it. I believe it was around $35 - $40 at the time.

I won’t pay secondary market prices. Way too much really good bourbon available for normal prices to finance some other dude’s whiskey habit.

Something different for tonight, one of them pricey non distillery produced bottles. Picked this up while driving through Memphis so it’s not from the NC batch.

Plastic screw top. Same price as Old Granddad Bonded yet not the same.

Did you like it better than Old Granddad Bonded?

Seems like Old Granddad (not bonded) is the house bourbon at a lot of places.

@weejub I like Old Granddad bonded so much I bought all eight bottles at ABC. Only two are left in my stash. I have not tasted regular old Granddad.

Old Everholt holds its own. It is a rye so the profile is different. First sip, all I could think about was the plastic screw top and thin glass bottle so I was not unimpressed yet not wow’d.

Took a moment last night to savor and I would purchase Old Everholt again. That is if they were out if OGD bonded.

We found a couple decanters this last week at a friend's antique shop close-out sale here in Pittsboro. Glass, but with great stoppers and a big mouth, easy to pour into.

Going to use them to make something like "The Prophet" found at Bourbon on Rye in Lexington, KY: A blend of every bottom of the bottle of bourbon they have served (I think over a certain $$).

So far, the 1st decanter is 1/2 The Burning Chair and 1/2 Old Forrester 1910.

Went to Vegas last week. Found a cool speakeasy bar called 1923. You have to push open a bookcase to enter the bar. Low lighting, period decor, cool vibe.

I had a Maple Bacon Old Fashioned. Buffalo Trace with maple syrup and bacon bits on the rim. You get a little snack while you drink. lol

They had a "Vault" section on their menu and Pappy was available, $165/shot. I passed.

To celebrate 14 years of marriage today, I opened the C919.

Finally our good whisky bar opened back up

@Fort Knox you'll just want to go to the hardcore porn whiskey section near the end.

i've always told friends a way to judge a pretty damn good whisky/whiskey bar right off the back is if they have Pendryn on the shelf. Its not well known and while not super expensive not too easy to find either. If it isn't on the shelf you aren't at a good whisky/whiskey bar, or you are at a bar that only specializes in one style of the "elixr of life" and you're limiting yourself and your horizons.
This place has 7 different styles of it.

I have been on a bonded quest lately. Found Old Grand Dad bonded to be the sweetest full body flavor. old Everheart was delicious. This one, nice beginnings that are hearty and a charred smoky earth finish that lets me know I am a man.

Edit for clarity: this one will light you up and keep your tongue numb for hours.

So went back here again last night. I had been when I first moved here. My boss took me after work but due to the train schedule I only had on drink before I had to rush out.

They were just awarded #4 whisky bar on the planet by some international whisky group and I think number 7 best drinking bar on the planet. There current highest priced pour is a $2,600 bourbon from 1880. They have quite a 100 plus year old bottle that they managed to get from the estate of some collector. The bartender said getting the old domestic stuff has been fairly easy when compared to Scotch as there is huge competition from the UK and Japan for those. Their highest scotch was $960.
My buddy and I enjoyed a hell of a meat and cheese plate.
My drinks were an Indian single malt (first on from that country for me) it actually impressed me, it was one of the cheapest on the menu at $14 but was damn good. Had a strange dark tint you normally don't get on single malts of that vintage.
Next was an icelandic single malt that was smoked with sheep dung. I had to try it and overall pretty good but since I knew it I could pinpoint that flavor. Lol
Then I had one of their whisky cocktails. Elementary. Which was served in a large glass pipe.
My buddy had a Pendryn Legend. Ben Nevis 18 year old and his cocktail was the whole paycheck served in a shopping cart. @Fort Knox @mtweller when are you guys coming up?

That place looks wicked! Since my role change at work a year ago, no more work travel, so it's probably not in the cards given how many times Emma and I have been to Seattle :(

We’ll, not right now, but Thursday evening….
