The new bumper is not ready to mount but @SNLC did get it out and get an idea of how it would look installed. I was looking for something a bit different than the standard ARB that everyone seems to be running. I think this is going to turn out alright.

That bumper looks farking amazing. Shoot some pics of the engine mounts? I’d love to see that.

So I was wrong when I told John that. They are actually HDJ78/79 and current production HZJ78/79. We played with a number of combos to get it how we wanted.

Cheers

So your standard Cruiser fan depth in a fan shroud is right about 1”. That is protruding out of the shroud. We ended up right around 1.25”. When we first set it in we only had about 1/2” protruding. So I guess in the end we moved it back 3/4”. First time we just set it down on the 1FZFE frame mounts.

Pretty happy with it, we need to deal with the trans crossmember still and we are also swapping out the oil pan. We currently have a 100 FTE or 79 1HZ pan on it, I don’t recall which but both are larger and hang down more than an 80-series 1HDx or 1HZ. We have found Toyota used a lot of different pans over the years on these engines in three different series of Cruisers. What matters is pan to tie rod clearance at full compression of the suspension.

Cheers

Fun fact, 80/79/105 all use the same diameter and spline count on the lower steering column and also steering box input shaft.

Started playing with our wiring harnesses at the end of the day.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable in newer 70’s can clarify, I don’t think the HZJ79 has the big rectangular hole in the firewall? I am pretty sure this is a GR79 thing and the 1GR engine bay wiring harness plugged into this hole. Perhaps directly to the ECU?

Regardless this ain’t no GR79 build! 😉🤷🏼‍♂️

Correct, noticed this when I was originally looking at grj79 bodies. The hzj79 body I have is a 2020 and has the standard round holes for the harness grommet.
