Wow, I haven't checked in on this post in a while - I've got some catching up to do, but the finished product looks incredible! To think, you started this a couple years after I started mine, and I haven't even touched the bodywork (and it still has a 350 - but I'm not planning on opening that can of worms).

Thanks, man. Have a few more hours left to button things up. Details are taking a lot longer than i had originally thought they would.

This afternoons weather is about as perfect as it gets this time of the year. I haven’t had the 40 started for awhile and decided to pop the garage door to let her run for a few minutes. I adjusted the idle down to 650 and then things kind of spiraled from there.

Put a few hours into the ‘72 today. The throttle on the Sniper was pretty touchy. Installed the extension arm(Holley 20-16)and it solved the issue. Also got the rear hardtop header installed. City Racer rubber and Overland Metric hardware.

This is cruel and unusual punishment, please don't stop.

Today’s work was spent adjusting the body mounts. We mocked up everything prior to paint(multiple times) but there is still some adjustment needed.

I used the energy body mount kit but didn’t like the way the yellow zinc interior bolts clashed with the rest of the stainless interior bolts. I ended up scrubbing the markings off of a stainless 3/8” bolt and sandblasting to look like the rest of the hardware.

I’ve been spending some time finalizing the hardtop install. Frustrating is an understatement. Luckily we have the pros involved. When the hardtop sides were bolted down over the oem rubber, some of the spotwelds shifted and needed a repair, which put us behind schedule.

Today, i took it from the shop to our painters house so he can wet sand the repairs in the evenings. It will be in good company. The 1/2 mile trip was pretty nerve wracking. The ‘72 will be going for a 3m clear wrap on the 1/4”s and select edges before it hits the road. Km3s and gravel driveways are not paint friendly. The 911 just got back from the shop that will do the wrap.
