Leaving these here as a time capsule for my boys to look back on in 20 years. I hope that’s Kosher to do. They are stewards of these rigs.

After buying an old house abandoned for 40 years in the mountains my father needed a 4x4 capable to access the house (that was only accessible by a donkey trail quickly widened) and capable to hull everything needed to rebuild this house.

His Renault 4L 4WD (Sinpar transformation) was capable to climb the trail but not the necessary construction materials.

In 1976 he got the opportunity to buy this FJ40. It was a 1974 model from the very first batch imported to France and the yound IBM engineer that originally bought it was forced to sell it by his pregnant wife.
(And the Bostrom seats in the front were installed by Toyota at the demand of this IBM engineer to try satisfy his wife.)

Found it in the classifieds of a 4x4 magazine.

And so it got used to carry all sort of things and friends to rebuild the house.

It was also used as a recreational vehicle.
