I have that seal somewhere. If you need dimensions or whatever
Thanks, this pic is stolen from partsouq, looks like they just use a normal seal now. Or maybe that metal cover thing with the holes is an extra part.. Seems like a moisture trap to me tho, so I don't know why I'd put it back on?

Those 35x55 dims are actually what I measured before looking it up, so it seems right.

Bumper to bumper was able to cross reference the Toyota pn, so I guess we'll see next week.

Ok well if you get hosed I can measure up. Could send it down for reference if it comes to that but it sounds you’ve got it sorted. I’m pulling out my pto on the 61 and putting a 24v Toyota winch on it. So not really going to need it anytime soon.

Didn't accomplish much yesterday due to a crushing red wine hangover from too much commiseration with man hating womenfolk. I blame it on having to hang my testicles outside the door on the coat rack during the session. 🤕

However I did get the seal. Kinda sucks compared to the double lipped one in the previous pic.
Doubt it'll last long once it's actually in use and spinning, but it'll hold the oil in for now.
Next time I order some stuff I'll add a proper one to the list.

If you squint you can see ebrake plan B has begun. Got one of the little Wilwood spot calipers. They're pretty Mickey mouse compared to the first one I pictured, but a lot smaller and easier to mount.
Probably should've just gone with one at the start, but at the time the two were nearly the same price, so I figured I'd try the better version.
Looked on Sunday and found it considerably cheaper, so ****it, ordered one, and through the spectacularly wasteful magic of declining western civilization, it was in my hand less than 48 hours later.

Hopefully I'll be ready to put the old bitch back together today or tomorrow and go for a rip. 🤘

If CruiserOutfitters has one, let me know. I can throw it in with my backordered gear set

I have dried up cereal to clean off my keyboard when I get home today; because I laughed so hard at these two lines.

Anyhow, nice work. Glad it's almost ready for a test run.

Haha, it's never been closer.

Although close is relative when the tranny is still on the shop floor. :p

Its' in stock.. I put the number on my list for when the gears arrive and are sent. I'm also getting t-stat and caps sent up.
It's $22 or thereabouts. Do you want to wait until my backorder comes in? If not, I'll remove it from the list. If you want
anything else let me know. It's all one box.

Yeah that'll work thanks, zero rush. Seal I got will hold the oil in.

Unlikely I'll do anything with the pto this summer anyways.

So this was kinda funny.

Been hanging onto this fawking alignment tool for YEARS thinking it was for a 3b...

Only other thing I've done a clutch on this century was a honda civic...in maybe 2001 :bang:

K9WTh9wVLsunl68l7CsmuqKgbkgCc6fhNMMSqK8ObP97fmM4zEzTT2L19vZxeP6nHMGIha802RlHwoWsJymgq7DirOoGnaxG_z9HcKgbzxPCS86AsphDc6EakAF3qrRpVsW4h2bDzBCXeHXFE-kUiWk78vi17B7eezDhB_9Dh1g5oCI4FMEbvxpJzWDzlfEO81fu4f-Ugb4-Mblcq7MO_-sVCCteEu3JTySi0HPy0jktn1qG16q0G4DGjHNs8LfSX9h1guuWr3LhpZLLQDhCKts3mKn-lt5H1ghFvA50h6RI8bpQnj_6izzhvQFGQyIsnyHqBmZRLhcGh4qcXa66LM2Vr1hb6Z22QGkFslnaDkSClUdCrOb7-LRMxEPORMORrzY2aIX-O5JesfgPX-IIXrP9-rF7vQWhGoV-JF1asB9V18alAOVVPmUEt5FQq1NAIGshQ3V5KCll6OZRlaXuXZ4UZSqssYgGytMvjgksirhXZZBPiKK-9QZhU9QsMhhsDyZu8TN-Z7FsN-LYUWWsXamubj9wNcMYhh0yXirO5zcD7V3hx_27628JWfPOgYxkhuE2UhFZBBOXq0ddMldvum-cf6gTJ08CIPlXYhLwB_jBFypc0tvhgeUlkDwVxNFTYg79jGVti1MSooliDFNxad3aOjapXQhF-SCuueIE66_enXZFd4Ru7yHFMxp29iYFOmz-FBqjUwMJ5nawsxF_hQMY=w469-h625-no

So I had to unmushroom a brass thing I've been using as a drift for 20 years that was probably an alignment tool before I beat the s*** out of it. :p

This is the dinky little caliper. Guess we'll see how well it works.

Booger welds I blame on my auto darkening helmet s***ting the bed.

Choice was blinding or completely blind...nothing inbetween. So it was mostly weld by sound.

Anyways, did the revolting tranny breakdance for a couple hours and got the ****er back in.

That bolt under the cover needs to be torqued to 90ish ftlbs, buggered if I could do it with the tranny loose.

The lower gearing made it want to flip over no matter how I held it. I'll need to get a driveshaft in before I can torque it.

So tomorrow I'll go around and tighten a few bolts, ad some oil and a driveshaft or two and it's on. :grinpimp:

Lookout foreword to seeing how the calliper works out. I’d love to replace my noisy t-case with a stronger split case. The gears would be icing on the cale

Yeah I'm curious myself. Read of some other guys using them, just hoping it doesn't make the rotor "sing" when driving.

Can't be worse than the s***ty stock drum e-brake. Every one I've had would barely hold on a flat.

Course now I probably won't get around to setting up the cable for a year...

Decided to hold off on mounting the caliper.
Figgered I'll have enough new noises to listen for without adding more wenches to the ointment.
I'll readdress when the first oil change happens.
I want to do a bit of sealing and rustproofing before I plate it for the year...but maybe next week I'll get it back on the road.

Backroad hot lap complete. :grinpimp:
PXL_20210312_194559940.MP.jpg

Definitely perkier in high. Had 33x10.5's on last I drove it and now has 285's which are a decent amount bigger, and it still feels better. Real test is 5th, but the back road is a bit short for that :hillbilly:

Low is pretty damn slow, I need to get a hand throttle sorted, it's a bit surgy if left to idle in low, but that's no biggie.
Also a proper skid plate is on the sooner than later list.

We have a driveway gate now, and no ebrake makes that a pain in the ass, but we'll see whether I power the gate or install ebrake first.

Hmm. That'd work aside from its location on mars...

I have an actual Toyota one sitting ready to go, but I need to get the interior back together first.

Had no patience to deal with the tranny hump yesterday, I was kinda done.

After the test drive I shovelled all the tools into a pile, parked the cruiser, shut the garage door, and opted for couch and a movie. 😴

Insured this AM and went for a pretty long rip.

To say it drives better with the 10% underdrive is a wee bit of an understatement. Can actually use 5th on the highway now.

As for gear noise, it's quieter. I had a fairly loud gear/bearing howl before that I was worried was the transmission (only heard it in 4th) but I guess it was just a noisy tcase.

Output bearing was pretty toast when I pulled it apart.

Smooth as a gravy sammich now. Actually smoother and quieter than the 61

Add to that , grand total to plate the old bitch for a year was $909 , so I'm having a good morning. ( was over 600 for 6 months last year)

I opted to go for the under 5000km discount. Figger I'll probably make it as I'm at 1001kms right now after a total of 9 months of being insured

Congrats, Must be nice to run the ol girl, after all, that time and work.

I can't wait to see it, drink a pint or two and plaster a few Kermits.

Gracias, it was a good day.

Still need some sealing before I drive in the wet, but it's never been closer.
The cowl seam at base of windshield frame leaks like a sieve. Debating seam sealer vs just a bead of stickyflex.

Good thing I didn't put a radio in it tho.

The little drawer I put in its place was half full of water last time I parked it outside

Which would explain why every switch in the dash was seized when I got it apart.

Frogs have had a bit of a reprieve the last couple years. Curious to see what the population is like.

And then reduce it. :hillbilly:

Also curious how many the blonde bimbo dog tries to eat...it won't be zero.

Saw you heading towards downtown Nanaimo today. I was stealth mode opposite direction in my amazing, quiet, smooth, comfortable, speedy, Nissan Leaf 🤣

Taking a break from tin bashing in the dungeon, to tin bashing in the shop. Yay me.

Figured it was about time I made door # 2. My unplanned coolant flush the other day made me think it'd be a good stash hole for a jug of water for those kindof situations, without it sitting in the cab or bed.

I liked the way these hinges worked on the other side, so I'll do it again. Simple way to make a strong hinge.

Starboard is good s***.

I'll finish it off tomorrow, sand off the sharp edges. Make it look a bit less like I found the aluminum in the bushes.

Would you believe it's the hatch I cut out of my aqualu tub almost 20 years ago?

Fawking packrat :bang:
