Found a long block to rebuild for 100 smackaroos I said hell yes!

Wiring. Barf. Always takes longer by 3x., I had an old marine waterproof junction box so, made a bracket to mount it to the CC canister bracket. Mounted the blue sea breaker in the box, ran the 4awg to the back. Split the power on right side so I can eventually put a fridge in, ran a line over the hatch headliner down to left quarter. Mounted sub. Now need to run speaker cable down the other side to head unit. Mounted a ground bus in the back too. Blahhhh.
Oh, have to buy more cable jacket for the 4awg before I can button it all up. Still need to wire up the usb / cig lighter panel too.

Got a RTT from Rugged Bound. So I had to hack up my roof rack that I spent hours making years ago. I plan to do a little right up on the tent after I get a rack built and installed on the wife's lx470.

This tent is awesome, and Rugged Bound was great to work with. Can't wait to go camping!

My passenger rear door had a good time somewhere in its past life.
20210205_171701.jpg

It wasn't sitting in the door jam correctly and it was letting water in through the top seal. I was able to fab a little spacer to go behind the body and bottom hinge.

20210206_164509.jpg

It got the door a lot closer to its correct placement, but it still sits a little off in the jam. I think I got it about 90% closer to correct. Next I will fiddle with both the hinges and see if I can get it aligned 100%.

A few days ago I was started down the rabbit hole of chasing leaks, when I was up on the roof checking my drains I noticed this.

So today I went ahead and pulled the roofrack and addressed this issue.

After that I also started on this project thanks to @eimkeith . I should get it all finished up tomorrow. These RAM mounts are awesome. They fit like a glove, no modification needed. I was able to simply give the factory mount a little grinder love to expose fresh steel for clean welds and it was go time. Plug and play, I am super impressed with this product and the price tag. I will make a separate thread detailing the full install. I have to say I am stoked with all the new offerings for our rigs that have hit the market the last year or so and I think this one is stellar.

All in all it was a beautiful day for working on the 80 and I made some progress. Now it is time for step 6.

I have been ignoring my 80 since getting my 200, I Had it detailed and gave it some love

I have been eyeing these YodaTEQ mounts ever since I saw them on @jcardona1 killer 80. So earlier this week I finally pulled the trigger and bought the kit which includes both the left and right sides. I plan on using one for my We Boost antenna and the other side will be for a LED pod or CB I am not sure yet.

The amazing thing about this was the handwritten note from YodaTEQ that was included with my order. The packaging was above and beyond too.

I have two RIGID pods mounted on these and wired as my backup lights. I forget that they're there most of the time but the extra light is fantastic when you need it.

Is this the rig that basically got a full restoration about a year ago. I love it it either way. Seeing 80's like this made me decide that I am going to try and do this in another year or so.

That is one good looking rig.:clap::clap:

The good, the bad, and the ugly. The 3M striping wheel removed the adhesive/foam from the roof rails easily.

The pin stripe didn't budge, oh well.

The tailgate issue. Backing out of the garage years ago, the door was not all the way up and it hit the wind deflector. The upper hatch is not only rusting, but badly misaligned. The lower tailgate split along the top seam also many years back unloading something to heavy, and that also does not allow the upper hatch to sit flush with the body.

Thinking the easiest way to fix the tailgates is to replace both, I've started looking and making calls.

24 Gallon long range fuel tank installed. Was a bit more involved than I thought it would be, instructions on the lines was a bit confusing. Sits nicely and doesn't look like it'll hit anything off road. Actually took closer to 26 gallons on fill up. Transfer pump is slow.

Not a frame off restoration, but basically everything else. Did every single maintenance item possible, knuckles, brakes, Ect Painted. Lift. Gears. 37’s. Armor. I’m shopping for another house and I May have to sell this year to do some remodeling / upgrades. Hopefully not. But we shall see. I do love it, but I kind of love the build process more.

I had 2 two LED pods on my Xterra that I installed in the rear bumper. There were times when they came in handy when it was really dark or a tailgater.

When you say RAM mounts I am thinking something that holds a tablet but looks like you are modifying your lower radius arm mounts. Can you elaborate on what your working on?

Joshua Tree. Didn’t see a single 80. Only Jeep’s, Tacoma’s and 4 runners. But mostly sprinter vans. The softroading “adventure camping” scene is bigger than I thought.

What tank did you go with?

It’s good to do that once in a while.

Did you clean the landcruiser as well?

Edit: you added the picture, it was too easy before
