Hi all! When I have the engine running my head lights and cluster lights seem to flicker or surge. Is this indicative of me needing a new alternator. Thank you!

There are several grounds you'll want to have a look at. Battery to engine, battery to frame, starter to frame, body to frame... those are just a few that I have or can think of off the top of my head. Not sure if/where the headlight switch or lights has a designated ground. Maybe try adding a new ground strap.

So did you resolve this and if so how? I’m experiencing the same issue after having just replaced my alternator and installing a Vintage Air A/C system in my 78’ FJ40.

I have not had a chance to dive deep into this...could possibly be a voltage reguator.
