Yeah the little patrol is cool, I still like the 80 as a big boy though. Toyota prolly thought they had that market covered with the 70 series.

yes and no ..

2 door patrol it's wider, much more " luxurious " and comfy but the most important it came factory with all around coil suspension .. which it's my main 7* series complain ..

A Patrol would be about the only Nissan I'd consider owning. I had a chance to look over a 60s-ish one once and it seemed adequate, although I liked the '76 FJ55 I was driving at the time better.

Yeah, on short WB vehicles, coils are definitely an asset. It doesn't much matter how you do leaves on them, they'll still hammer your kidneys to death. That's another thing that makes the bobbed 80 desirable vs a 70 series. I gotta say I wouldn't turn up my nose at a 70, although I'd probably go with either a trayback or the caravan body w/ ambulance doors.

There is 70 series coil springs all round. Japanese imports. A friend had a 86 or 84 70 series 4cyl turbo diesel with coils

I disagree. that guy knew exactly what he was doing and he did so by engaging and disengaging the front axle at will.
