Replaced my Wabco vacuum pump that was leaking as well as my power steering pump that was weeping. Both were still under warranty.

Trickiest part is getting the bolt tightened on the top inside spot on the power steering pump. Needed a short 14MM socket and adapter for 1/4” hex head and tighten with a small 1/4” box end wrench.

Filled power steering pump and bled the system. Lifted front of 60 off the ground and rocked steering wheel back and forth.

Took it for a test drive and it’s all good now.

Since the undercarriage was now clean and I had time I decided to replace the oil pan gasket.

The new gasket I bought is twice as thick and coated the gasket with Permatex Motoseal. While the pan was out it was a perfect time to repaint the outside of the oil pan.

Now it’s ready for fresh oil and filter

Finally got around to build out the rest of my cargo area. Built the drawers. Full size sliding cutting board. Removeable dividers, 100% new wool rug I got from a job. All materials I collected for free over the past few months. Except drawer slides and cutting board. Super excited to get this in the forest.

That is an awesome setup, especially that slide out cutting board. Nice!

Did you just cut the card and fold over the factory wrap?
Thanks.. i think it looks good too....
Yes. That's all it needs... had some snap buttons handy... after 30+ years these are brittle...

@Hojack your rig is bad ass

Yesterday was a great day for working on the 60. Finally had time to install my Boss triple airbags. I started on my drivers side because the spare tire had a noticeable sag of almost 2”. Also my passenger side has the 3” exhaust pipe that I need to reroute so the airbag doesn’t contact it.

Had to trim the u-bolt heads with portable bandsaw in order for the base of the air bag to have enough clearance.

Inflated to 60 psi and no leak. Took bag back down to 10 psi which leveled the rear of 60, 8-1/8” from top of tire to top of wheel well.

Next up was getting my Ruffstuff Clevis mounts installed. Instead of surface mounting decided to cut through bumper with Plasma Cutter and cut some flat steel and weld to the back side of the clevis mount. Then slide through hole and weld.

Painted the rear bumper and cut in holes for some LED lights.

Did that make your windows go up and down any faster?

No. Only fix for a smooth roll up/down is a new regulator and window channel...

the vent windows (front) came with their own regulator that are in great shape...
Other than some surface rust on the regulator spring (corroseal worked great to make them new again)...

If anything it feels tighter as the new felts really hug the window...
The rear window driver side, even after some TLC it is hard to roll up...
the PS rear window is smooth as silk...

Bough a vacuum gauge and tried it out. 17 InHg. With a 2-3 in. flicker. Not good! Pulled the air cleaner and valve cover. Checked clearances with engine running... Not good! All were tight but one. (#4 was way too tight! The one with the lowest compression). It was hot AF, sweat dripping in my eyes, burning my skin on a warm engine. Managed to get them all adjusted after a few tries. Now am pulling 20+ inHg @4000 ft, but still a little flicker of the dial, but much better. Cleaned up the valve cover and seating surface (not as easy as I expected), then tried to carefully install cover.. had grief trying to finagle it over the rockers and under the fire wall without the gasket coming loose, but after 3 or 4 tries while sweat dripping from my nose, got it buttoned up and went for a test ride. WOW! So much smoother! Can't believe I neglected them for so long. Hope I didn't burn a valve, but may have. Rear main seal started dripping much more, nope, just the valve cover leaking at the rear under the cowling. I guess I'll try again. Practice makes perfect 👌

Got a bunch of parts powder coated while I'm waiting for the rest of my A/C parts to be delivered. Sway bars and all brackets, horn grilles and (homemade) brackets, and my tcase twin stick shifters now that I've got them bent the way I want them. So much nicer now, and should last another 32 years....

Took the little man and the feincee up to the mountains to go shooting with some friends. It was much needed for us and just to see some good friends. But the Toyota is getting a little tired then again at nearly 300,000 miles I would too. I noticed it's time for new shocks and suspension to handle the washboard logging roads and it needs a trans cooler to keep cool while trying to keep up with the younger Toyotas trucks and full size trucks. So time to start saving and budgeting for upgrades. Any recommendations for suspension that's good for washboard roads? I want build this Toyota as a future hunting/camping/ search and rescue vehicle.

Finally got it back on the road. Lapped the valves, new stem seals and a fresh head gasket. Need to adjust the lash and fix a leaky injector, but it runs great! Thanks for keeping me motivated @CenTXFJ60

Where did you get the inner felts for the rear doors?

From the other thread....:beer::beer:

Aigh......
I pulled the rear driver side door card and compared the old felt to a new front door felt (both inners).
Other than the new felt being too long (needs cutting to size) it's a perfect match ( the tabs line up).

Guess what Im doing.......

Many thanks for those who’ve fought and served, lived and died for this country! To my Papa Joe, now at rest in Heaven, who was in the US Marine Corps, stormed Iwo Jima and under attack saved injured soldiers and was awarded the Purple Heart for bravery. Injured himself he met a nurse on the ship hospital who’d later become my grandmother.
Semper Fi Papa Joe. Love your grandson.
God Bless the USA 🇺🇸
