Rob & I have experienced this phenomenon a few times.

It’s hard to describe, and must be witnessed first hand to fully appreciate, but it’s the Summer Avenue magic hour.

Like clockwork, as sun gets low on the horizon, the traffic dies down, the area commotion mysteriously quiets, and it just becomes a super tranquil spot. Total 180 from the middle of the day.

If you catch it during nice weather, it is on par with a full double rainbow. If you have a beer & a cigar in hand, it is literal nirvana.

I would paint your shopfront white. The awning black and the garage door with Toyota racing stripes. Unless of course you don’t want people to know what is going on in there. Then leave it as is for camouflage.

I like that. Definitely painting it but haven’t been sold on anything I’ve come up with so far.

That would work well with the paint scheme I have planned for the interior, which is either going to look really cool or really lame.

How’s the AC do?

So far, so good, but haven’t had a true test yet. The humidity is low right now, which sends out a false positive. I also need to seal up a lot of holes.

Went to check on it and the area in general this morning (in light of the BS going on in other parts of the country), but Summer Ave seems to be business as usual. This area isn’t known for that type of crap, but I’m still keeping my fingers crossed.

The ‘3 2Fs and I’m out plan‘ got modified. I’d like to be able to start the bigger projects already lined up as soon as I move in, so I’m knocking out a few more motors. That will be less stuff to move too.

This 1FZ left yesterday...

Right now, he’s got the second coat of primer on and is going through several cases of caulk. Hopefully he’ll be on paint this week. I will be done with motors next week and will be over there to kick things into high gear. It should come together quickly at that point.

My brother lives down the street so to speak (Olive Branch, MS), but he's not a 4wd type. Good luck with the new shop and location.

Slow but steady progress. Everything has a second coat of primer and he’s busy caulking up the millions of small crack and holes.

It’s starting to look presentable.

In the afternoon & evening on hot days, the ceiling is so hot it feels like you’re under a heat lamp, so I’m having is sprayed with closed cell foam.

Monday, we’re going to dust off the paint sprayer and lay down some phat Toyota colors on the walls and ceiling.

Also, one ACC's new garage tenants is a machinist. He ran a loop of airlines from his compressor back and forth across the wall above the compressor to act as a passive air drier. I'll get a pic next time I'm there.

Be careful on closed cell, they will say only used 1/3 as much as open cell..... buddy went with closed cell and was terrible and couldn’t keep house heated.

We used open cell and have 10” in ceiling across the I beams, our electric bill is beans compared to others in July/ August.

Those white walls are begging for some classy Toyota artwork, like TRD emblems and such.

Run your water lines back and forth across the roof and you won't need a hot water heater ;)

I am starting a GoFundMe to incorporate these new additions to the scope :grinpimp:

In this case, it is form over function. I have the open cell in my home garage and, while it works well, it looks like ass. I bought as many inches of open cell as was in the budget (that’s what she said), and will spray more in the future when I’m rich and famous.

I put closed cell under my house and in my new shop. Seems great in both places. The science I read says they were telling me the truth on the closed cell being better than open

either way, as Cam said. Cleaner look.

This is inside my sun facing roof right now inside v outside

The AC kept up fine all day today (90, no humidity). I’ll want more AC just so it can recover after opening the big door, but this is already beating my expectations.

What the heck, let’s get one more motor out of the way. No time for glamour shots though...

Back to the shop...

We laid down some phat Toyota colors on the wall. Since we prepped it really well and rolled on the primer for maximum adhesion, we painted the walls and ceiling with the sprayer.

Style-wide, we’re going with the classic two-tone shop scheme. For the upper wall & ceiling, we went went with Cygnus White, which looks REALLY yellow next to actual white, btw:

I really dig it.

I feel like we’re on the home stretch now. We got the gaps around the new doors closed in and sealed up, and the last of the windows fully closed in and sealed up.

A second AC is also on the way. With the building almost sealed up (just needs some weather stripping on the garage door), it’ll be like an operating room. I’ll run a dehumidifier too, like I do in my home shop, so I can pretend I live out West.

When the electricians come out, they’ll wire in a switch for the exhaust fans.

That’s it for now. It’s pedal to the metal. Floor prep starts tomorrow.

I’m going to retract my statement about feeling like we’re n the home stretch. We are, but this part is WORK. And it is SLOW GOING.

Dirty Rob came over yesterday and helped with the floors. First step, fill in the cracks and divots:

This system uses sand as the filler, and you mix a two part polyurea-something and soak the sand. After about 30 minutes you can grind it flat:

After that, we rented a concrete floor grinder from Home Depot.

Still have a lot to go, and will need to thoroughly clean it, and then I’ll put an epoxy clear on it. This is TONS of work, but will pop when we’re done.

Stay tuned.
