Filling stock 2F in 1986 FJ60 after restoration. I got enough concentrated prestone to make the required 17.4qts. Was planning on 50/50 dilution unless someone recommends otherwise. I probably cant put the entire amount in the radiator fill opening. Whats the best way to fill an engine with coolant thats been out of the truck for a while. It is back in the truck and all hooked up.

50:50 added to the radiator.

When the engine starts up there's going to be 3 million little bubbles whipped into the coolant by the water pump that takes time to coalesce into bigger bubbles and get purged out the thermostat. Until the thermostat opens, all that air gets sucked back into the water pump to be whipped into a delightful froth to be circulated back into the engine again.

Just keep an eye on the coolant level and try to burp the bubbles out of the radiator as its warming up. There's a couple ways to attempt it.

Make sure at some point you set the inside temperature to hot to get the heater circuit filled as well otherwise you’ll have air in there too.

You could take the thermostat out of it for an initial fill up and start, or prefill the block through the lower t-stat housing if you are worried about starting it completely dry/empty.
