12 months ago I started a quick tidy up as the car was from Tamworth and I’d brought it to the coast. It quickly got out of hand and before I knew it I’d started a frame off restoration.
I named her Tina as there was only surface rust and more patina than anything. She still had the original brake shoes on her when I pulled it out of a paddock at Tamworth. I drove it around for 2years as a daily and only ever had to fix the pinion bearing in the front diff.
I’ve done a massive amount of sandblasting on her and learnt how to paint with single stage 2k.
I’m a boilermaker by trade and quite mechanically minded. I’ve rebuilt engines from 2stroke chook chasers to 15 litre truck engines.

Brilliant job mate. Mine is an 83 FJ45 and am still figuring out how big to make the project. Is that Rhino Lining you are using in the guards etc.? I am in Brisbane, QLD.

Hi Steve. Nice looking ute you have there. I’m on the Mid North Coast of NSW. I used raptor liner and tinted it with baslac 30 line colours.
I only used raptor as there were supply issues with the other brands.
Best thing about it would be the noise it cuts out in the fj.
Only the inside of the hj47s floor is done at the moment.

Keep the photo’s coming mate - very inspirational! And how you get the valve cover so clean - she looks new?

Nice ride - I have one of your FJ45 relatives living over here in the US from NSW. You are truly making that ride perfect.
Cheers

cheers love2fly positive comments help with motivation. that is a bloody nice one you have there. PTO winch,Tub and wheels give that some real character.
I'll be glad to get her all finished off. So many little things to tidy up and give it a proper wash. We're not even allowed to use a hose outside at the moment due to the drought and bushfires.

Been watching the news on your fire situation in fact some our local fire fighters just got back from helping on some of the fires over there. I hope the weather changes soon, keep at it and that ride of yours will be riding the roads soon.
Cheers

valve cover i just sandblasted and hit with a epoxy semi gloss clear, did the same to the fuel pump. I was suprised how well it looked after blasting, i'd initially had intentions to polish it but it looked very similar to factory so i kept it.
i kept this one really stock cause it was a really good example. I'm hesitant to post before pics as i may cop some flak.
if i didnt live a stones throw from salt water i would have never done anything to the body except wash it.
