I think it’s disgusting, Cover your kill. I’ve been hunting since before you were born.
Lack of respect. I’ve never been called a veggie hippie. But I don’t eat diesel carbon
exhaust either.

the snow will be here soon......

Well.... this was my first deer, I had forgotten my tarp otherwise it would have been inside the truck. We were in a rush as we came across this deer an hour before we had to be back to pick up the kids from school. Not excuses, just our situation. I don't see how a hunter would find this disgusting... lack of respect.... to the people who see the deer? I've often see deer strapped to vehicles, especially in Sooke, front and back, even in pictures dating back to a time before I was born. I don't mind constructive feedback (willingness to learn), but expressing ones opinion as if they are in the right without exception is not the same.

You answered clearly enough. You’ll never understand.

It was a bit of an impulsive post on my part, and my 'veggie hippie' comment was uncalled for I suppose. However I did understand the rushed nature of Oceancable's hunt that day. You have to realize he was essentially hunting in his backyard and did not have far to go. I do appreciate his innovative use of the fuel rack on his truck. Most people don't actually put those to any use as they don't go anywere remote enough to actually need extra fuel (you as an exception of course). I thought it suited his purpose well. I know Oceancable well, and his intent was not to 'show off' his kill; but rather a practical and quick way to get it home. Anyhow, I could see how the picture would be offensive to some, so have deleted it from this thread.

I don't hunt myself, but did grow up around it as my dad regularly hunted. He was able to hunt productively every year on his own property (ranch in the interior), and so no covering of a kill was necessary. Pick-up box was just fine.

I was raised a vegan. I don't eat a whole lot of meat. But I do think people should harden the *** up sometimes. I admired the picture and envy a deep freezer full of game. Way more respectable that showing war and decapitated people on the news. Just my personal opinion though.

To be honest what makes me really sick is the people who 'trophy' hunt. Killing for no reason other than a picture sitting behind a large dead animal.

I should have been more careful with my words when I posted that picture. Honestly I'd had a couple too many, so brain was not where it normally is.

Guns beer and dead shiit oh yeah!

Vegan!! What! I wasn’t expecting that. There’s nothing wrong with being vegan you just looked like the typical person from Courtney in your thread:flipoff2:

Meh. An exposed deer isn't a big deal.

Hunting isn't my thing but how else are you going to get something home if you can't put it inside.

Anyways, park across from my house has what might be the sketchiest snag I've seen right over the trail. All from last years storm.

This is what you have to walk under on the trail...

Won't be going that way on any windy days...

Call your municipality (or whoever manages the park), ask them to get the trees on the ground, and you'll clean up the rest (ie: drag the logs home to season for next years fire wood!)

Those trees remind of a sketchy ma/pa mineral exporation company I worked for when I was 17. They sent me hours out in the bush on my own (in an FJ40 at least) with two chain saws and no safety gear to clear an old road for them. The road had DOZENS of trees hung up exactly like that. How I'm still alive, I don't know.... Why I was so stupid as to do it....well....not sure on that one. Young and dumb I guess. Same company had us transport 100lbs of pounds of OLD dynamite under a tarp in the back of a pick-up through the local town. Blasting caps bouncing around in another box right beside. :bang:

Yeah it's on what they refer to as the "unmaintained" side of the park. I'm sure others have called they're probably more likely to just gate it off and put up lawyer/liability signs if too many people bitch.

They've taken down s***loads of snags on the maintained side, they just leave the wood to rot. :crybaby:

Probably like viha. A tree falls on hospital property you get ten phone calls a day from guys offering to take the wood and clean up afterwards as if they're the first one to think of it...

Plus it's a small trail at the end of my driveway. I don't really want it to become busy. Just impressive/scary looking when you (quickly) walk under it.
