Power steering resivor to pump o-ring (1 Viewer)

On the line from the reservoir to the power steering pump, there is an o-ring where that line goes into the pump. I got the metric o-ring from the hardware store that seemed to be the right size, correct diameter and the cross section of the o-ring fills the groove, but I can't get it into the pump. Is that a special Toyota o-ring or do I just need to get a thinner o-ring?

Did you try putting some lube on that O ring before you tried to install it in the pump? If not try lubing it with a little ATF, then try installing it.

Lube didn't help. I think I need a smaller cross section o-ring, but I'm worried it will be too small and leak.

This one? I used regular metric o-ring and re-assembled with grease. Needed slight force to get back in. No more leaks.

Don't forget to use grease, otherwise you will most likely crush the o-ring.

It's not crushing it that he needs to be worried about, it's nicking or cutting the O ring if he tries to install it without lube, and if you cut that O ring, it WILL leak.
