Diesel would be pretty stinky to burn. Also if you spill any, it won't evaporate. May be ok when the end of the world occurs, but until then I prefer to use so called 'white gas' in my stoves. Clean burning, lights easily and for camping it's 'cheap enough' compared to the fuel to drive out there in the 1st place :)

I fill the stove and then take a full fuel bottle. More than enough for several days camping. In general I'll cook over a fire if possible.

I've used white gas in the coleman dual burners and also in their various hiking single burner stoves. Never an issue and never had to worry about gummed up jets etc.

I've used petrol in a pinch (dual fuel stoves), but it has its own aroma...

I prefer white gas too. They do say in the specs that kerosene will boil more water for same amount
of fuel. My distaste for gasoline now is complete, chainsaw and lawnmower only for me.

Just seeing if it works.
