Have a look at eBay and search for 'FJ25-28, FJ40,FJ43,FJ45-V.Crank,Starting Handle guide.1958-1984 Restoration Part'. The seller, 'SJP Parts' has these as a reproduction (laser cut). Link to the store: SJP PARTS | eBay Stores
My hand starting crank guide arrived from Oz today. I had wondered if the handle was too large, it's very beefy. But the guide is perfect. Thanks @fj40au for the lead, and SJP parts for shipping internationally.

My clutch slave cylinder was frozen, and the threads of the auto parts store replacement were incompatible with my hydraulic lines. But while down there I found the threaded hole for my period correct PTO shifter. Here is the pivot bolt installed. Some good news at least.
More good PTO news, @whitey45 had a PTO flange that will connect my drive line to my PTO box.

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. I drilled 11 holes in my windshield frame tonight. I just really wanted this top for an upcoming trip.

Got my reupholstered driver's seat in. The original gas tank, (which already looked good but had been removed by the PO) is holding fuel. I'd POR treated it just in case . It didn't have its gas gage sending unit however.
My red seat belts are looking nice, but a bit dingy. Need some easter egg dye or something (but not new webbing).

I drilled new holes in the channel not my windshield frame.

They won't show. I may be using the wrong terms. But maybe it will qive the next restorer something to write about. I won't try to challenge @oregon fj 's PO's record  . I think there were only 6 larger oem holes up there for attaching the hardtop. Looks like this now:

(Update, the hard top will go back on, this was to get on the road. But it was fun.)

I added a bikini to one if my rigs, AND ALMOST drilled into the windshield frame until I realized,,, wait, just drill the rail, 6 holes, 3 in each is all you need...

Getting closer to taking the rig on a camping trip in the Cascades. Not sure how to pack it yet but practice from rafting (where everything is strapped in) seems to come in handy. Two 5 gallon gas cans, and two five gallon water containers are stowed.

Think this cost about as much as the PTO winch itself I found on CL, but I'm happy to have it. Thanks @whitey45!

My thread on taillight cones has an update.
The 140° thermoplastic doesn't do well in full sun. Here the prototype is saging (not my rig).

Got a vintage card of paint chips, Dupont I think. It helped me answer two questions.
20180918_200121.jpg

1: What color is Miss Kitty's oem paint?
Looks like Seminole Red on top of the aprons.

2: What was the original color of the very straight hood I recently purchased locally?
Seminole Red!

'New to me' hood for Miss K will require a bit of work but it's the right color, and I didn't even know it.

I noticed a difference between currently available "TOYOTA Land Cruiser" apron emblems, and the ones on my '64 and '68.

The early ones don't appear to have black paint around the outside edges. I removed the paint off a new one with a citus paint remover, and order has been restored to the universe. I didn't remove the black paint under the last line, because THAT would just be fanatical.
If you try this at home, know the new chrome isn't real hard, and that

a green pot scrubber can scratch the mirror finish. Better to go with blue. I used a bamboo skewer to get between the letters.

I think you might be mistaken about the black... oops.

I've got 4 of the old ones, the paint between the letters is there, no trace on the outside edges. Maybe there where 2 types? Or like the orange tint in '68 side reflectors, it just dissappears.
At any rate, I've got a nice retro look going.

A little upgrade to the face of her instrument cluster.
