I've got an 88 fj62 that recently failed CO emissions testing because CO2 was too high. Last year it did the same thing and I just ran it on the highway for about an hour before going back to re-test and it passed. I tried the same thing this year and when I went back the levels were higher.

Moving on, so yesterday I went through the FSM EC tests:

PCV valve-good
EVAP system-good
DP system-good
EGR system-failed
AI system-so so

EGR: The vsv and egr valve tested good but EGR vac modulator seemed sketchy.

AI: The system seemed to test properly but the check valve (A) (big metal one) was bad.

I'm ordering the vac modulator and the check valve.

Now my concern, both the TPS and the AFM tested out of parameter per the FSM:

TPS:

Terminals fsm Test
VTA-E2 .3-6.3 kohms 7.5ko
IDL-E2 less than 2.3ko 1.8ko
IDL-E2 infinity 6.2ko
VTA-E2 3.5-10.3ko open
Vc-E2 4.25-8.25ko open

AFM:

Terminals fsm Test
E2-VS 200-600 ohms 820 o
E2-VC 200-400 o 300 o
E2-THA temp range open
E1-FC infinity open

The truck runs great so I question if I didn't do the tests for the TPS and AFM correctly. I plan to replace the cheaper parts now and go from there.

Its also throwing codes 25 and 26 (lean and rich) but I think I may have tripped those during my testing.

Should I be shopping for a TPS and AFM?

Thanks for your help.

TPS:

Terminals / fsm / Test
VTA-E2 / .3-6.3 kohms / 7.5ko
IDL-E2 / less than 2.3ko/ 1.8ko
IDL-E2 /infinity/ 6.2ko
VTA-E2 / 3.5-10.3 / ko open
Vc-E2 /4.25-8.25ko / open

AFM:

Terminals / fsm / Test
E2-VS / 200-600 ohms / 820 o
E2-VC / 200-400 o / 300 o
E2-THA / temp range / open
E1-FC / infinity / open

Maybe a little clearer.

I've never had a TPS test correct. Even fresh out of the box.

EGR: This device lowers NOX, so it's probably not related to your CO/CO2 issue. Problem could also be a CAT. Replace the check valve since you have it ordered and go from there.
