Hey all,

I recently sold my fjz80 and long story short wanted to buy v8 4runner 06-09 but at the same price i can get 100 series. My Fiance says, "babe just get another Land cruiser." Cant argue with that!

Anyways I wanted to get verfication on engine horsepower. Ive looked this up and cant quite seem to get the accurate information particularly on a 2005.

Here is what I know:

98-2002: 230 HP with 4 speed auto
03-2004: 235 HP with 5 speed auto
2005: Cant confirm as google says 235 HP, however Ive heard that the 05 was the 275 HP non-vvti. Same like the 4runner v8 in 2005 with 275 i believe?
06-2007: 263 HP VVT-i engine

again ive searched the forums and internet and cant quite get the right answer.

Thoughts? Thank you.

that link stopped at 2004.... :*(

The Slee buyers guide is the only one that describes the year by year specs but there is no information on 2005 and above. 06 just talks about switching to VVT-i with no power output.

According to Toyota Brochures which you can preview at the following:
ImportArchive / Toyota Land Cruiser 1998‑2007 Free Brochure Viewing Gallery

The 2005 was 235 HP.
The 2006 was 263 (I believe since I didn't pay for hi-res) HP with VVT-i engine.

I have never heard that 2005 was higher HP non-VVT-i engine.

I see it now. it's blurry. Interesting numbers so let me explain:
The brochure states that the land cruiser is 235 HP
The brochure states that the sequoia is 285 HP (or something like that as it's blurry.)
people would say well sequoia was made in North America which is true however:
2005 4runner 4.7 v8 was rated at 270 HP. i thought the VVTi was introduced in 2006 for 4runners as well.

I guess safe bet with more horsepower will be 06-07. 06 as it's significantly better on price. :)
