I bought an OME for my 2000 Lexus LX470 from 4WP and they are doing the install next week. My question is, have any of you Lexus Owners had them do this lift?

My concern is the computer will freak out without the AHC and start giving me issues. Does 4WP, know how to deal with ripping out the AHC and adding the OME?

Also, for those of you that installed the lift kit, did you do something custom where the AHC and suspension controls were?

Thanks,
Mark

How much are they charging to do the labor? I may get it done soon or do it myself

From what I gather you need to pull the AHC fuse and disconnect the AHC computer wiring from the module next to the steering column. You may want to relay that info to them vs having to do it in the parking lot when you pick it up.

I pulled the trigger during their Truck and Jeep fest, so half off labor. They are charging me for 3 hours labor, plus shop fees and warranty for 3 years. With the OME (also discounted) it was just over $1400.

I took my truck to 4WP to remove the AHC, 3 days later I picked it up just like I left it (only replaced the coils)
I put a long post about it, basically they took the job and later refused to do it argumenting a company policy that cannot change the factory specs on hydraulic systems or something like that. Honestly they didn't want to deal with the rust, not even the alignment, because the camber bolts were rusted. They quoted me $620 including alignment, of course didn't pay that.
At least the shop by me (Naperville IL) they are useless, I won't put a foot in their shop anymore. They only want to install expensive light bars on brand new jeeps. I ended up doing the work myself on my driveway. I have to say that is not a walk in the park, but anybody can do it, especially reading about the job here in mud and learning from other's experience, there are some tricks that will save you a headache.

Here's the post I referenced
Hasta la vista AHC and few questions

I wouldn't even allow the Albuquerque store to change a blade on a lawnmower.

What (electical connections) to disconnect:
My 2006 Land Cruiser AHC to OME experience

(I wouldn't let the monkeys at 4WP within 100ft of my vehicle.)

There is no way they're removing the AHC in 3 hours. My bet is they have zero clue what they quoted you....assuming it's the same as a Land Cruiser.

SO BIG SURPRISE, I called 4WP and asked them if they were sure they could do the job and.....they decided they don't do lifts on Lexus with AHC systems. They refunded my money and then they told me OME doesn't make a lift kit for the LX.

So back to square 1.

<sarcasm> It's a shame that OME doesn't make a suspension kit for the LX, they probably don't have one for the 06/07 AHC Land Cruisers either </sarcasm>

They probably did you a favor. The OME install isn't that difficult, but my experiences with 4WP lead me to believe that they were a bunch of young kids, that are capable of "inserting tab A into slot B" on Jeeps, with about the same technical ability as a Best Buy stereo installer.

You're close to Slee Off Road. Have the job done there. If the budget is tight, have them cap the AHC lines and remove at a later time, or do that part yourself. They will correctly disable the AHC electronics.

hummmmm Didn't realize that was an option.

Oh yeah, if you are in the Denver area check with Slee. Probably 4 month wait or something. There are other places that are in the Toyota know. ATLR . My impression with 4WP was that if you have opened this site, then you know more about Toyotas than they do.

SO BIG SURPRISE

So back to square 1.

HAAAA I was running late to work so didn't go into their shop to order what I needed. I just ordered it at work online, but instead of using 01' LX, I used 01' LC100. Got their fox ifp shock bundle deal for $499 and OME 2860 springs(they said only for 80's) $167, free shipping and no tax sale. Pretty dang dope, saved almost $100 right there

I'll still have them quote the job, but most likely do it myself w/ friends and few beers.

I think 4 Wheel Parts is just used to working on American made Jeeps and trucks. When you ask them about something for a Toyota they get a confused look on their face. They have been very helpful for generic items like tires, winches, etc.

If you were in the DFW area, I would highly recommend Tandem Automotive to install your OME lift and delete your AHC. They are Toyota Specialists /Enthusiasts and only charge an additional $50 to remove all of the AHC components when they install the lift.

well, as jLB said, they did you a favor. Look at the bright side, they didn't keep your truck for 3 days to realize that, like they did with me, and now you have the chance to do it yourself, do it right, and learn in the process.

Yeah, I wouldn't trust 4WP with any install. Went there for a Smittybilt winch. Asked if they could install it. They told me it wouldn't fit my LX. I have an Ironman Bullbar and told them it will fit on that winch cradle. They then said, they only install if the bumper is purchased through them. I said ok, went to Amazon, ordered my winch there and will install it myself. As someone said above, the installers at 4WP are equivalent to BestBuy car stereo installers.......not good at all.

Im 100% sure that this will not happen.
You are going to pick up your Cruiser and they will say like X was seized and we couldn't do that.

Outcome 1: Nothing gets done

Outcome 2: Something will get done, maybe the rear....

Outcome 3: The AHC is still going to be there, your suspension will get swapped, they will have no answers about what is AHC or why you have a light flashing on the dash and you will get a bill for 6-7 hours instead of 3 as they said.

Do it yourself, you will learn more about your Cruiser and save some money for gear.
