Wow! That’s a great deal. If anyone is on the fence about the Noco unit, you’ll never see a better price than this, and the fact that it’s from Amazon means easy returns should you encounter a problem.

EXPIRES IN 4 HOURS!

At 1st i thought, How dare you try to direct us back to the original topic of this thread....then i read your post . I just paid $295 for this item last week on Amazon, it just arrived on Friday, I hadn't even opened the product box yet. I called up Amazon to try to get a price match....they said no, but that i could return for free and order a new one. Why Amazon would want to waste free shipping for me in 2 directions instead of just refunding me i dunno, but dont really care

@gaijin savin me some much-needed cash! I went on a mad spending spree on 1st aid and trauma gear today don't even know what i spent in the end, so this $60 back in my pocket is much appreciated.

I highly recommend anybody on the fence jump on this. I looked all over and nobody (outside questionable ebay) had anything cheaper than $295.

Oh wait a minute....looks like the deal is gone. I just refreshed my screen and its back up to $295. They must have sold out that quick. Close call, i got my order in by seconds

I think they probably do that because Amazon pricing changes constantly… Anywhere from a few cents each time to a few dollars. People would be calling night and day for adjustments. Glad you can return though, as that is a killer deal. Tempted to buy another one… Ha ha. No need obviously. :)

My amazon App says $239.00
I’m happy with my PowerAll.
Ah, I think with lightning deals you can only claim once, that’s why mine says $295 now, because I bought already. Sweet deal for sure. A buddy of mine just bought one too.

@Markuson i dunno ‍♂️, I kinda think you should buy another one. Let’s say you have a 10L diesel that needs to be jumped 81 times, and your current jumper only can do 80? Then what?

At the very least it’s such a sweet deal you could buy and sell to a buddy to hook someone else up who isn’t on Mud tonight. And no, it’s not me trying to get payback for you convincing me to spend so much money

I already have an XP10 and a couple other budget jumpers, but I went ahead and pulled the trigger on this one too. Definitely the best price I’ve seen on it!

Yeah, that’s more like this

I went down the whole insurance route today. Lotta phone calls. I have a HSA apparently which the funds carry over, so spending out of it...though appealing to save a bit now, is just money I won’t have later. So, I dropped that idea just going to go ahead and buy a kit. I’d like to hear what @doctorres112 has to say about the specific kit breakdowns from my spreadsheet. If I’m spending the money I just want to get the best option for it.

First Aid Kit

Now that I’m learning more about this, and really looking over what’s included, the $286 for the outdoor supply weekender doesn’t seem like a bad deal. Even though it’s more than others , that fancy case alone and with the ability to use their mounting solutions is worth some extra expense.

I’ll check with my local Red Cross on classes, I’d really like to know more about using all this.

Alright.....sorry for the long delay. We just got back from the Pisgah National Forest and I sorta spaced on this topic. Love this forest, only wish the area we were in had more primitive spots for our trailer.

Back on topic...

Of note, and a disclaimer of sorts. My background stems from 11 years as a combat medic in the Army, followed by 3 years (and counting) as and Army PA. I'm no expert, though have I do have experience and perspective. I'm not sponsored by any specific company and my suggestions are just that.

Regarding the original question of the contents of the $286 kit, it seems to have a nice assortment of supplies. Could you be better off building a better kit? Absolutely. Though there are some things in life where your time might be worth more than piecing a kit together. We have those "things" we'd rather spend than do ourselves, and this may be that for you.

However, I suspect with this kit and others like it, should you ever have to really use it, it's going to look like a garage sale by the time you find what you need. I'm not sure how it's packed out but I'd fear there's an emergency and you'd be tearing through it just to find the one item you needed. It's certainly over kill on some things and I tend to be a brand nut on certain things. Especially when it comes to items like medication, bandaids, etc..

I'd hesitate on getting the tactical kit unless you're versed on items such as the decompression needle. It's not rocket surgery but carrying things you're not sure how to use, or know when to use it, can be counter productive.

When considering building a 1st aid kit for off roading/overlanding/camping I'd ask yourself to consider what the most common issues are going to be and making a list of how you would treat said issue or condition. Following that, think of the 1% issues that could pop up and make a list of how to manage that. Though I understand space is always a concern, I'd be more inclined to be a large "CLS" style bag for the non-medical traveler. They are usually robust enough to carry a fair amount of supplies, often more modular and flexible enough to be stored in different areas of the rig based on your pack out.

If I were building my own kit, here is a small but not comprehensive list of what I would be looking for.

CAT t-kit x2 (GENERATION 7 is a must)
https://www.amazon.com/CAT-Combat-A...0745252&sr=8-4&keywords=cat+tourniquets+gen+7

Pressure dressing x 2 (I've used these since they were provided to the Army, love them for their intended purpose)

Mouth to mask device
https://www.amazon.com/Ever-Ready-F...=UTF8&qid=1530745530&sr=1-4&keywords=CPR+mask

https://www.amazon.com/Durapore-Sil...TF8&qid=1530745570&sr=1-30&keywords=3+in+tape

Coban x 2-3 rolls
https://www.amazon.com/Ever-Ready-F...&ie=UTF8&qid=1530745694&sr=1-7&keywords=coban

Good trauma shears (buy once cry once)
https://www.amazon.com/Madison-Supp...&qid=1530745787&sr=1-4&keywords=trauma+shears

Good surgical kit (little instruments that can just be helpful)
https://www.amazon.com/Responder-Ta..._rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=NAF8HZBRJZZ1FN1NC57S

Army style Cravat (used to create sling, anatomical splint, etc...) x4

Rescue hook (cut off seatbelts, clothing)
https://www.amazon.com/Benchmade-BL...530745824&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=rescue+hook

OTHER
alcohol pads x20-30
3 & 6 inch ace wraps x2
4x4 gauze pads x10
2x2 gauze pads x10
Band aids (name brand) various sizes

MEDS
Benadryl (allergy, bug bites, etc....) x1 bottle
Motrin or Alieve for anti-inflammatory (think twisted ankle, arthritic pain, etc..) x 1 bottle
Tylenol (think pain relief...headache, contusion/bruise, twisted ankle) x1 bottle
Imodium (diarrhea) x1 bottle
Hydrocortisone cream (rash/bug bites, ingrown toe nail) x2 tubes
Antibiotic cream/ointment x2 tubes
Eye drops x1 bottle

Anyway, just some thoughts on what I'd carry if building my own kit. Happy to spit ball vai DM/PM if there are questions. Love the topic, very passionate about it as it is my day to day at work.

Thanks Chris, that looks like an awesome summer trip! Looks like you not only have the military medical experience but also the wheeling with young kids experience as well. I'll send you a PM as well, but thought I'd go ahead and list the entire contents on this thread of what i have ordered for 1st Aid / Trauma for my 200. BIG thanks to @Taco2Cruiser for all the expertise and guidance on this process as well. I look forward to your feedback.

Did my best to compare what I ordered against @doctorres112 and @Taco2Cruiser suggestions. Let me know you think i missed anything, or if there is any specific items I'd be best of returning and getting a different one (better shears ect...), or anything else i should swap out for a better quality item. All items on this list I have already ordered on Monday, but haven't yet received anything yet. The Amazon stuff as always is easy to return if you have alternate suggestions. @Taco2Cruiser , the only area I swerved on since we spoke was the ITS Boo Boo Kit. I made a spreadsheet to compare it against some other offerings and ended up going with the Adventure Medical Kits Mountain Guide Medic Kit , as it just had more qty's of the products and other extras i woulda had to order separately. The bag it comes in is nice and organized, not nearly as cool as the BROG large 1st aid bag, but i can always change that in the future. good enough to start. Some of these items like Chris said (Decompression Needle) I'm obviously not going to know how to use til i get the training, but better to have in case somebody else does know how to use and for me in the future. Anyways, here we go:

Interesting discussion on the medical items; I've always thought of a first-aid kit as a boo-boo kit; having the knowledge (I certainly didn't) to create a trauma type kit off of Amazon is pretty cool. $230 guzzled.

I finally unboxed the NOCO and I’m shocked at how huge it is compared to the XP10! I’m also surprised at the lack of an AC charger and the fact it gets charged via a USB/micro USB. The XP10 comes with a nice carrying case, AC adaptor, laptop and phone adaptors, etc., so I guess I was expecting the NOCO at a higher price point to have similar stuff. It looks like a very heavy duty unit though, and I care the most about it working well when I need to jump a dead battery.

I have one of these in each of my cars - XP-10 POWER SUPPLY & JUMP STARTER | THE MICRO-START and others here on MUD have used & recommended them. (I haven't - thankfully - been stranded and needed it)

There's a bigger / HD version too, but the XP-10 should meet your requirements. XP-10 is around $200.

I set a calendar reminder every 90 days to check the charge level and/or top it off as needed. Easily stores in a lot of nooks / crannies / under seats...
Exactly the same here on all counts. BTW - more than enough energy to start the 6.2L engine in our truck with a dead battery.

Got mine this past Friday, it's a monster.

I bought an inexpensive 120AC to 12v Wall adapter...which charges the the NOCO the fastest.

There are many ways to charge it and the slowest is usb. You can plug in nearly any dc charger that fits the round plug...and each will charge at varied rates based on the source...including solar.

This is what I use:
