I grew up dirt roads camping in a 19' Airstream of probably early-mid 60's vintage. Grandad wasn't anal about prep and maintenance, but he was meticulous. Every known or suspected problem was dealt with well in advance of any trip. Only major work that trailer ever needed was when I backed it into a gate hinge post.

Has anyone seen one of the new Base Camp-x models?

Can they be taken down a 1/2 decent trail? or will it peal off the PVC piping?

Does it have any skid plates under it?

All that I know about those were a whole separate mfg that Airstream bought.

While I think it's pretty cool taking a trailer down a trail, the reality of it might be more of a pain that I would want to experience. Dishes slamming around... etc. Just my work van with tall sides is crazy on rough gravel, going over pot holes I have tools flying around.

Just store everything on the floor, then it cannot fall...
