How close do tire sizes need to be to not destroy the drivetrain? As tires wear down and the spare remains brand new, the height/diameter difference could grow significant.
I’m sure the question has been asked before but I can’t find a post about it.
The reason I ask, I have a ‘96 80 series and I need to pick up a spare tire. Current tires (Geolanders 285’s) have a 1,000 Miles on them. I found a used KO with a little tread left but that made me realize that at no time would the spare ever match. And if one is destroyed and you have to replace it, how do you get it to the same size if it matters that they be exact?
