So my wife calls me and says... "I cant get the back of Stelah open!" And yes... she used that exclamation point.

I tell her just to try and I'd try to fix it when I get home.

Fast forward a little while and I am trying to open the rear ladder swing away on my 4x4labs bumper... Holy hell this is hard, WTF!!!" It wouldn't really budge.

I pop the dust cap off breaking the years old RTV Sealent and this is what I find:

It looks like someone forgot the dust seal... or it possibly didn't get one when it was first put on. Oh well, hopefully Luke will get my replacements out soon :)

Moral of the story... if your swing away isn't butter smooth... you may have a bearing issue,

Funny thing is this is the ONLY rust on the truck. LOL

I had a Warn rear carrier on a Wrangler, holy moly was that tough to move.

Was there a grease zerk on it?

Should be easy to drill and tap for a zerk. Drill a small 'weep/relief' hole in the side of the dust cap...so you will know when to stop applying grease so you won't hydraulic the dust cap off the unit.

I greased mine today! Thanks for the reminder and kick in the pants.
