A 1999 Td5 Defender 90 was my daily driver for more than 8 years while I lived in Panama.

Sadly, she sits for 6-8 months at a time now, waiting to be driven when I come down for vacations.

I just installed a Allipsort Radiator and Intercooler. Both are trick as hell and the Td5 is running cooler than ever. I may pull the IC as it is so think it rubs the AC lines and I am afraid that may either wear through the IC or AC line.

Test drive with new radiator was to Santa Fe, about 250km outside the city. It was nighttime and raining when we arrived. We barely made it up the trail due to all the wet clay. Two days later, it was raining when we departed and it felt like we were skiing down most of the trail.

I forgot how painful some of these trails are when it is raining.
I was reminded really fast. I don’t surf, so I only went once to Sta. Catalina just to check it out. Isla Coiba trip still on the bucket list. There are some launches that leave out of Sta. Catalina for Coiba

There are.

Several friends of mine run businesses there, a dive shop and a kayak company. Both do trips out to Coiba, the kayak guy is seasonal. The dive shop is open year round and does snorkeling trips if you don't dive.

Coiba is not to be missed! I spent a week out there camping out of kayaks back in the winter of 09/10.

I was in Catalina last year, right about this time. I was there for about a month or six weeks.

Cheers

Good to know. I’ll get their contact info, next time, for the next trip!
Thanks.

Ran into these guys yesterday in Sta Clara.
On their way to Chile in a Syncro VW. Very Cool Couple.

They ran into some transmission problems in Guatemala, and it took them a month to get Aduanas to release the parts.
Unbelievable. Otherwise they said they were having a great trip. They said borders crossings were averaging 2-3 hours now, except Nicaragua.

I also, saw the white PZJ70 yesterday in Santiago that’s listed on encuentro24. Not a bad price, but I need to look and getting rid of some stuff, not getting more.
